The Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) announces the search for the Western Collegiate Hockey Association Commissioner for a multi-year term beginning with the 2024-25 academic year.  The WCHA seeks a dynamic leader who will provide vision and strategic direction to its membership and advance the sport of women’s hockey within our region and nationally. The commissioner oversees and manages all facets of the league and ensures the efficient and fiscally sound administration of all activities while working to provide an exceptional student athlete experience.

Founded in 1999, the Western Collegiate Hockey Association has won a record 16 national championships in 21 years since its inception while producing nine Patty Kazmaier Award winners, 125 All-Americans, and numerous Olympic and international team members. The WCHA competes at the NCAA Division I level and is comprised of eight Division I and II public institutions including Bemidji State University, University of Minnesota Duluth, University of Minnesota Twin Cities, Minnesota State University Mankato, The Ohio State University, St. Cloud State University, The University of St. Thomas and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. 

Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to collegiate women’s hockey and an understanding of NCAA compliance.  Experience in the areas of strategic planning, marketing, fund raising and sponsorship sales, fiscal management, media relations, communication, supervision, and office management will be key skills of the successful candidate.  A complete position description and list of responsibilities can be found at wcha.com/commissionersearch.

This position does have the ability to work remotely however the board would request that the Commissioner live within the footprint of the WCHA.
