About the Opportunity
The WVU Athletic Business Office is comprised on three high functioning areas: Strategic Budget and Finance, Business Operations and Strategic Initiatives and Administration. This position will be responsible for the area of Strategic Budget and Finance, which includes operating budget development, pro forma financial statements, capital project budgeting and tracking, and internal and external reporting.

What You'll Do
In working with Deputy Athletics Director & Chief Financial Officer, responsible for strategic budget and financial operations within the Department of Athletics, developing, implementing and monitoring plans to advance the Department.
Assist the Deputy Athletics Director & Chief Financial Officer with the overall management of the $105 million athletic budget, which includes all scholarships, financial and business operations, travel, accounts payable and receivable, purchasing, budget management and control, ticket office and foundation reconciliations, payroll and inventory control.
Manages the athletic budget on a day-to-day basis through proactive monitoring of budget and regularly meeting with coaches, staff and unit managers to ensure accountability and up-to-date information.
Assist in the overall development of the annual revenue and expense budget, along with preparation of financial pro formas for the Department and the University Budget & Finance office.
Oversight of gathering data for inputting into both the EADA report and NCAA Agreed Upon Procedures (AUP) reports.
Works with necessary staff in the development and maintenance of the Department’s long-term capital plan and deferred maintenance expense plan.
Serves as department liaison with internal and external auditors.
Manage select staff members of the Athletic Business Office. Delegate and prioritize duties and responsibilities, monitor work schedules and leave requests; responsible for hiring, training and evaluations.
Works with the Minor League baseball account; serves as the point person to reconcile the MiLB capital expenditure fund, review and verify the ticket surcharge, process and review all IU’s, expenditures, revenues, and settle year end payments, and work with necessary individuals on capital improvements to the Baseball facility.
Responsible for updating and communicating policy and procedures manual electronically (web-based). Ensure policies are consistent with institutional, state, federal, Big 12 Conference and NCAA requirements.
Maintain and monitor confidential files for student-athletes, prospective student-athletes, and employees. Manage sensitive and confidential information related to student-athletes, coaches and staff utilizing discretion and correct decisions.
In conjunction with the WVU Design and Construction, oversee financials for athletics capital projects.
Serve as the back-up budget officer for the Department of Athletics, including accounts held by the WVU Foundation.
Serve as liaison with various university departments as directed by the Deputy Athletic Director & Chief Financial Officer.
Develops, prepares and presents reports as needed to various groups both internal and external to the University.
Other duties as assigned by the Deputy Athletic Director/ Chief Financial Officer and the Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics.
Maintain knowledge and comply with all rules, regulations, policies and guidelines of West Virginia University, the Big 12 Conference, and the NCAA. Must adhere to NCAA Bylaw 11.1 Conduct of Athletic Personnel.

Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or finance is required. Advanced degree is preferred.
A minimum of seven (7) years of experience involving:
Previous experience working in a college or university athletic business office or a university business setting, preferably at the Division I level.
Experience in working with accounting and financial software (Oracle, SAP, Banner, etc.)
Experience in working with Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint and Word
Exceptional organization abilities and strong communication skills
Progressively responsible experience within accounting, finance or related field
Experience with and knowledge of Division I intercollegiate athletics business operations
All qualifications must be met by the time of employment.
