Assistant Athletic Director of Marketing

Key Responsibilities:

Marketing Strategy & Brand Development

• Develop and implement marketing plans to increase attendance, revenue, and fan engagement for all athletic events, with a focus on high-impact sports.

• Collaborate with ticketing, development, and communications teams to execute cohesive campaigns that align with departmental goals for ticket sales, student engagement, alumni involvement, and community outreach.

• Ensure consistent brand voice and visual identity across all channels and fan touch points.

• Partner with university marketing and communications teams to promote broader institutional priorities.

 

Social Media Strategy & Execution

• Create and plan weekly email blasts to students, faculty/staff and fans.

• Lead the creation, execution, and evaluation of social media campaigns across all athletics platforms (Instagram, X, Facebook, YouTube).

• Oversee day-to-day management of team and department social accounts in coordination with creative and sports information staff.

• Develop storytelling strategies that highlight student-athletes, traditions, and the fan experience.

• Utilize analytics tools to track growth, engagement, and campaign effectiveness; adjust strategy based on data insights.

 

Game Day Promotions & Fan Engagement

• Design and execute comprehensive game day scripts for all home athletic events.

• Organize all video-board materials related to promotions, graphics, sponsorship fulfillment, and content.

• Develop strategies to grow the athletics department’s fan base and maintain fan loyalty by understanding audience demographics, segmenting marketing efforts, and engaging with students, alumni, and the surrounding community.

• Coordinate the logistics behind theme nights, giveaways, on-field/ on-court contests, fan zones, and student-focused activities to maximize fan involvement and atmosphere.

• Work closely with event operations, spirit squads, band, and sponsors to ensure seamless execution and memorable game day moments.

 

Creative Collaboration & Leadership

• Supervise a team of marketing interns and student workers.

• Work alongside the creative team to produce content that supports social and in-game marketing initiatives.

• Collaborate with Corporate Partnerships Director to ensure all contractual elements are executed. 

• Serve as liaison between athletics marketing and coaches/staff to align team-specific promotions with broader departmental strategies.
