Assistant Director, Video Production and Content

Role Summary

Reporting to the Associate Commissioner for External Relations, the Assistant Director of Video Production and Content will work in collaboration with the Conference’s external relations team on content creation, video production and manage the WCC’s digital network on ESPN+. The position will assist Conference staff in the ideation and execution of the WCC’s strategic plan and promote the West Coast Conference and its member institutions, generating exposure through all media platforms.

Primary Responsibilities

• Promote the Conference and generate exposure and visibility by developing, capturing and producing content for each of the WCC’s digital platforms, including social media, as well as linear and digital broadcasts.

• Conceptualize promotional assets that highlight the brand and Conference through the creation of motion graphics, highlight packages, sizzle reels, and other content.

• Assist with the execution of the Conference’s social media strategic plan.

• Capture and package platform specific content for the Conference’s social media accounts with efficient workflows established for optimal promotion and exposure.

• Produce all in-venue and promotional video and graphics assets for WCC Championship events, including videoboard, marquee and all digital signage around venue.

• Identify and produce feature stories on student-athletes and coaches.

• Produce content for digital network, including weekly segments and feature shows.

• Plan and execute video shoots, including onsite at member institutions and securing time in recording studios.

• Produce all video marketing assets for social media, digital, linear and in-venue platforms.

• Manage the Conference digital network, ensuring all broadcasts on ESPN+ meet the WCC’s minimum broadcast standards and brand guidelines.

• Serve as the Conference’s liaison to the WCC Video Managers Group.

• Oversee all Conference video-related requests.

• Manage the usage of Conference-owned video equipment.

• Coordinate and manage video assets that are shared with institutions and television partners.

• Represent the WCC at events and institutional visits, assisting staff.

• Assist with Conference championship planning and execution, as assigned.

• Collaborates with External team on sponsorship fulfillment.

• Assist with the execution of the fan experience plan for all WCC Championships.

Additional Responsibilities

• Ensure operations in areas of responsibility comply with NCAA and WCC policy.

• Ensure Student-Athlete Experience is a priority in all Conference initiatives.

• Other duties include Commissioner delegated projects, as assigned.

• Membership relationships and outreach.

• Travel and visibility on-campus.

• Ensure annual calendaring and meeting of deadlines.

• May participate in planning meetings and conference calls with host championship venues.

• Execution of all Conference and NCAA-hosted championships including championship policy and procedures.

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of five years of experience in a related field.

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master's or advanced/professional degree(s) preferred.

  • Demonstrated high-level proficiency in various technologies including Adobe Creative Suite (e.g., Premiere, Photoshop and After Effects), Microsoft programs (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and other relevant software.

  • Demonstrated high-level proficiency in operating camera equipment and organizing video shoots.

  • Ability to demonstrate professional competency by establishing and meeting deadlines, and balancing multiple responsibilities in a timely and high-quality fashion.

  • High level of initiative, creativity, and independence.

  • Effective personal and professional communication, both oral and written.

  • Working knowledge of intercollegiate athletics, the West Coast Conference, and its institutions’ programs is preferred.

Travel Requirements

25 – 50% of travel

Work Location

Hybrid with South San Francisco, CA base.

Salary

$55,000 – $70,000, commensurate with experience.
