Intern Assistant Coach (Women's Volleyball)

Washington & Jefferson CollegePart-TimeWashington, PA

Contact: Head Women's Volleyball Coach Lindsey Llewellyn (lllewellyn@washjeff.edu)

The Washington & Jefferson College department of athletics offers paid coaching internships to provide a hands-on learning experience with a NCAA Division III sports organization.  W&J is currently searching for a Women’s Volleyball intern assistant coach for the 2025-26 academic year.

The internship provides a monthly stipend, campus housing, and a monthly meal stipend.

The program's objective is to use the college’s NCAA Division III sports to give aspiring coaches opportunities to observe, participate and gain experience to eventually become a head coach at the collegiate level.

Designed as a vocational tool, the program will educate interns on specific aspects of the duties of a head coach, including recruiting (30 percent), practice planning (15 percent), instruction (40 percent) and video editing and other assigned duties (15 percent).   Hands-on coaching experience will provide the intern with an opportunity to test personal ideas and coaching methods under the direction of a seasoned, veteran head coach.  The intern will learn the rules and regulations with recruiting under the NCAA Division III umbrella.

The program provides the opportunity to gain exposure on a highly-competitive NCAA Division III coaching staff, while increasing marketability to a future employer.

The intern will have the ability to be exposed to resume-building situations while applying coaching concepts and principles.  Hands-on opportunities to work with equipment and technology offered by the college will also enhance the experience.  In addition, the intern will have the opportunity to be exposed to the administrative side of the athletic department through experiences with game management, facility coordination and working with the college’s Student Athlete Advisory Council.

The head coach is the intern’s primary supervisor.  The intern will also be evaluated by the Director of Athletics.

Stipend: $10,000 ($1,000 per month for 10 months – August 2025 to May 2026)

Housing: On-campus apartment (shared apartment with another coaching intern); Utilities included.

Meals: $175.00 monthly in campus dining facilities (10 months - August 2025 to May 2026)
