Associate Athletic Director for Development Operations (R0007457)

Essential Functions:

  • Provide leadership for athletic annual giving programs such as current use scholarships, excellence funds and Deacon Club Annual Scholarship Fund.

  • Lead all stewardship programs for Development efforts including major gifts, current use scholarships, endowed scholarships, and excellence funds gift.

  • Create plans to acknowledge and update naming opportunities for all named spaces.

  • Lead efforts for all events to include major events, building dedications, campaign events and other small group events to involve strategic alignment and coordination with the UA events team.

  • Provide leadership for membership services and gift accounting to include gift documentation, call reports, donor stewardship reports, GIK documentation in coordination with UA gifts processing team.

  • Maintain a portfolio of prospects and donors for engagement and philanthropic support.

  • Provides leadership for the development office budgeting process.

  • Establish partnerships with key affiliated groups such as: Revel XP, Proof of the Pudding, Learfield, ASM Global and other key partners.

  • Create systems to update all sport specific investor reports to support Excellence Fund Giving programs.

  • Provide leadership and manage efforts for all Athletic volunteer boards and councils.

  • Provide leadership and office coordination for all internal processes.

  • Promote synergy between University Advancement and Athletics Development to achieve shared objectives in the areas of Stewardship, Events, Gift Accounting and Annual Giving.

  • Establish and maintain positive relationships and effective communication with student-athletes, coaches, and other Athletic units.

  • Manage a limited portfolio of donor prospects.

  • Promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.

  • Ensure that all programs and operations comply with university policies and practices, conference and NCAA regulations, and local, state, and federal laws.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field and advanced degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 7-10 years progressive experience in leadership and management roles of a broad array of functions within a University setting.

  • The candidate must demonstrate a proven history of successful hiring, managing, and leading others.

  • Excellent leadership and management skills, including the ability to lead and motivate diverse, multi-functional, senior teams in an efficient manner to achieve high performance results.

  • Deep understanding of fundraising including trends, best practices, and emerging shifts.

  • Proven capability to collaborate effectively with a diverse group of individuals possessing a wide array of skills and experiences. Skilled in building coalitions and cross-functional teams to harness synergistic relationships. Proven success in enhancing organizational and staff development.

  • Skilled in analyzing and redesigning operations, devising, and executing novel strategies and procedures.

  • Tested decision-making ability, change management and crisis management skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, leadership, and the ability to bring a wide range of stakeholders together to create solutions and to forge a successful conclusion.

  • Ability to clearly and effectively present information to internal and external audiences, client groups, and all levels of management and serve as an advisor to senior and university leadership.

  • Strong financial management skills and experience in strategic planning, project management, and process improvement.
