Assistant Director, Creative Design, Department of Athletics (R0009174)

Wake Forest Athletics is hiring a talented Graphic Designer with experience producing graphics for digital and print publications. The ideal candidate should have a strong design-forward skill-set to innovative design, branding and content creation. This position will assist Athletics Communications, Fan Experience, Video Services and Deacon Club staff with management of content and projects. Additionally, this individual will assist with administrative projects and collaborate with Wake Forest’s Office of Community and External Relations on execution through its brand strategy.

Essential Functions:

·        Assist the development of the Wake Forest Athletics brand across print, digital, and audio/video platforms.

·        Produce and design content for Athletics Communications (social media), Fan Experience, Video Services, Deacon Club, Ticket Office and other departments within the organization.

·        Assists with administrative projects and weekly recruiting needs of all 16 coaching staffs.

·        Foster an innovative and creative environment that is responsive to our Department and University needs while ensuring that brand identity standards and brand personality are reflected in all Department communications.

·        Design and produce high-quality marketing pieces that communicate a strategic department and university message to a broad audience in many different media formats (such as logos, stationary, brochures, direct mail solicitations, print ads, posters, newsletters, mailers, email campaigns).

·        Assist Fan Experience and Video Services with video board designs and production for in-venue content.

·        Collaborate with communication team members to achieve consistency in creative direction and design of external publications for departments. This also includes working effectively with coaches to translate their vision or need into an appropriate design that meets their social media and content creation goals.

·        Successfully manage multiple projects concurrently, while meeting project deadlines.

·        Oversee student and internship workers specifically working in design and production.

·        Abides by all NCAA, ACC policies, and procedures.

·        Performs related duties as assigned.

 

 

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Bachelor’s degree with at least two years directly related collegiate experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

 

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

·        Post-secondary education or equivalent experience is required.

·        At least 3-5 years of experience creating various types of media including digital and print.

·        Extensive knowledge and experience with Adobe’s Creative Suite.

·        Advanced knowledge of video production including the use of Adobe Premiere Pro and motion designs using Photoshop, Illustrator, and Indesign.

·        A deep understanding of digital marketing disciplines and email marketing.

·        Extensive knowledge on creating print-ready materials for marketing and ticketing purposes.

·        Strong understanding of layout (i.e. typography, balance, scale) and other design fundamentals and techniques.

·        Well-rounded and experienced with content creation; extensive knowledge in sports photography, motion graphics and/or illustration designs.

·        Deep understanding of Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube etc., and what content creates the highest levels of engagement on those platforms.

·        Technically knowledgeable and savvy in a digital environment; Apple environment.

·        Accustomed to working in a fast-paced environment with the ability to multi-task and collaborate.

·        Being willing to provide and receive quality-related feedback.

·        Highly experienced in taking creative ideas and translating them to visual presentations.

·        Able to work independently and autonomously on projects while consistently delivering projects on time through completion.

·        Must be flexible to work evenings and/or weekends including events held on weekends, nights, and holidays.

·        Must exhibit professionalism when interacting with staff, members of the media, and players/coaches.

·        Must organize personal workflows so projects are easily shared between colleagues.
