Head Cross Country and Assistant Track and Field Coach
Virginia Wesleyan University, a NCAA Division III institution and a member of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference, is accepting applications for a Head Cross Country and Assistant Track and Field Coach. Virginia Wesleyan is located in Virginia Beach, VA and sponsors 25 varsity sports teams, supporting almost 500 student-athletes.
The Head Cross Country and Assistant Track and Field Coach will report to the Director of Cross Country and Track and Field. The individual serving in this position is responsible for leadership and assisting the Director with oversight of all coaching duties for the Men’s and Women’s Cross Country and Track and Field programs in all phases of a NCAA Division III program. Responsibilities include but are not limited to assisting with; recruitment of quality student-athletes, scheduling, managing and coaching meets, planning and conducting practices, organizing team travel, monitoring student-athletes’ academic progress, equipment maintenance and purchases, budget management, fundraising and administrative duties required to maintain a competitive cross country and track and field program. Additionally, a thorough understanding of and accountability to NCAA, Old Dominion Athletic Conference and institutional rules and regulations is necessary.
Review of applications will begin immediately. This is a 12-month, full-time position with benefits. Qualifications include; minimum of a bachelor’s degree with master’s degree preferred. Preference will be given to applicants with college coaching experience. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Must possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable by the university’s auto insurance carrier.
