Athletic Events and Student-Athlete Experience Coordinator
Virginia Wesleyan University, a NCAA Division III institution and a member of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference, is accepting applications for an Athletic Events and Student-Athlete Experience Coordinator. Virginia Wesleyan is located in Virginia Beach, VA and sponsors 23 varsity sports teams, supporting almost 500 student-athletes.
The qualified applicant will report to the Executive Director of Intercollegiate Athletics. The Athletic Events and Student-Athlete Experience Coordinator will assist in the planning, marketing, promotion and execution of athletic contests and other athletic events.
This person would work with our Director of Athletic Communications, our Director of Student Engagement and our Director of Alumni and Parent Engagement to develop and implement marketing and promotions strategies to increase attendance at athletic events from both our campus community and our greater Hampton Roads community. This position would also help to improve our event experience for both student-athletes and spectators. Responsibilities could include but are not limited to creating pregame graphics and team/event promotional videos, assisting with planning and hosting pregame and alumni tailgates/socials, organizing halftime activities, and assisting with our Fins Up Club for Kids events.
Event management will also be a responsibility of this position. This position will assist in sharing information with visiting teams, coordinating, training and overseeing game managers/student staff as well as overseeing venue preparation for events.
The Athletic Events and Student-Athlete Experience Coordinator will also work with the Athletic Administration, the Athletic Training staff, the Director of Counseling and Student Health and VWU SAAC to plan and execute educational programming for student-athletes throughout the academic year. Lastly this person would spearhead planning student-athlete events and celebrations including but not limited to Presidents/Deans List socials, D3 Week activities, the Chi Alpha Sigma induction ceremony, celebrations for Conference Championships/NCAA appearances and others as needed.
