Job Description

The Assistant Director of Marketing will develop, implement and execute strategic marketing, digital, branding and promotional plans for its assigned sports. This position will identify and execute innovative elements to ensure an entertaining and engaging in-venue atmosphere at assigned sporting events; promote events across multiple mediums for assigned sports; work with the ticket office to coordinate ticket sales and attendance initiatives, maximize revenue streams and other duties as assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities  

  • Actively participates in planning, development and implementation of short and long-range marketing strategies. Works closely and collaboratively with Communications, Operations and Ticket Sales teams to develop and implement marketing, promotional, social media and digital advertising plans and campaigns

  • Oversee marketing and fan experience elements for assigned sports

  • Assume responsibility for planning and implementation of efforts to drive ticket revenue, game day attendance and overall brand awareness. Generates revenue through season ticket sales, single game and group ticket sales.  

  • Manage applicable department budgets

  • Lead department initiatives related to student engagement efforts and/or student intern program

  • Oversee and execute the creation of marketing collateral (i.e. print, digital) and in-venue entertainment items for assigned sports

  • Ability to leverage internal assets/channels and develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external partners

  • Define key metrics to measure the effectiveness of marketing initiatives; utilize reporting, develop insights and communicate program and strategies to key members of the athletic department

  • Other duties as assigned by the Associate Athletics Director for Marketing

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or related field is necessary.

  • A Master’s Degree is preferred.

  • A minimum of 1-3 years of previous experience is necessary.

  • Previous experience with an email platform such as Oracle Eloqua and Adobe Creative Suite is preferred.

  • Proactive thinker who is interested in developing and executing new ideas to better improve the efficiency of the overall brand is necessary.

  • Organized, detail oriented and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision is necessary.

  • Proactive thinking with interest in developing and executing new ideas to better improve the brand is necessary.

  • Ability to work a non-standard work week including nights, weekends & holidays is necessary.
