RESPONSIBILITIES
• Responsible for servicing the intercollegiate athletic facilities. Duties performed are based on the needs of the events at that time and under the direction of the supervisor. Responsible for standby before, during and after events, practices, banquets, press conferences, meetings, luncheons, etc. This position will assist with set-up, arrangement of furniture and equipment, servicing restrooms, troubleshooting facility problems and reporting any emergencies to the supervisor or appropriate University authorities.
• Provide ongoing upkeep of the sports complex, arenas, stadiums, meeting rooms, locker rooms, training rooms, classrooms, equipment rooms, restrooms, and other public areas. Includes cleaning and maintaining floors, walls, windows, carpets, furniture, sports equipment, wipe boards, sanitizing and restocking restrooms and showers, replacing light bulbs and emptying trash and recycle containers.
• Set-up and move furniture required for sporting and special events; may manually or with self-propelled equipment remove snow or debris from sidewalks, stairs, driveways, entry ways; mow grass; help maintain grounds around athletic facilities.
• Under the direction of the supervisor, perform minor electrical, plumbing and carpentry skills i.e. repairs to lights and fixtures, moving partitions, walls, windows, floors, unclogging drains and sewer lines, etc. Construct simple items such as bookshelves and cabinets, clean and paint surfaces.
• Use power and motorized equipment, hand tools, ladders, buffers, polishers, vacuums, blowers, etc.
• Lock and unlock buildings and gates, monitor the safety and security of the facilities watching for unlocked doors and windows and reporting any unauthorized occupants to the supervisor or University officials.
• Occasionally, drive a UW-owned gator/utility truck.
• This position is designated as one that performs an “essential function”. This position’s incumbent must continue to report to work in the event that the University suspends operations because of severe weather, natural disaster, or other emergency conditions.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Compliance with the rules and regulations of the University, the NCAA, the Conference, the State of Washington and any other governing body is of paramount importance to the University. The overall responsibility of this position is for the successful operation of the program in full compliance with all such rules and regulations. As a condition of employment, the Employee shall be required to participate in rules education programs offered by the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Physical ability to do required work and one year of experience in custodial or general maintenance work.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as license/certification/registration.

Additional Requirements:
Must be able to work event related overtime and variable shifts. Overtime is mandatory for athletic events as needed. Valid driver’s license required.
