Job Description:
Under the direction of the Director of Video Production, the Assistant Director of Video Production will work with internal and external stakeholders to enhance, support, and elevate brand strategy through multi-purpose video content that appeals to wide-ranging audiences across each of UW Athletics’ communication channels.
This role and its focus include the production of creative video elements for the purpose of marketing, fan engagement, team integration, sponsored content, and any promotional materials used during, and in support of, sporting event presentations – it also supports and facilitates production of original content designed for Washington’s digital (GoHuskies.com) and social media platforms.
Fan engagement elements include crowd rousers, sponsored content, and other in-venue video elements as needed. Production of team integration pieces include player and coach features, team introductions, and other video coverage elements as needed – including see-to-completion of “opening” videos for assigned sport programs.
The Assistant Director of Video Production will foster relationships with team and staff representatives in order to develop a creative video framework, which includes brand-building strategy, storyboard concepts, footage-capture moments, and the production/editing of the video elements listed above. This position will work in tandem with the Director of Video Production and partner in the management and scheduling of the video production team, including shooters and editors within the allocated budget allowed for part-time staff, as well as manage video equipment needs, budget, and prioritization.
Produce high level video content for Washington Athletics that includes shooting and editing dynamic pieces for all sport platforms — website, social channels, in-venue interactive signage, etc. Responsible for content creation plans and execution for assigned sports and projects. Shoot, edit and produce video content for social media, live production, pre and post-game content, and other live videoboard/television productions. Mentor and collaborate with student interns on all aspects of video production.
Compliance with the rules and regulations of the University, the NCAA, the Big Ten Conference, the State of Washington and any other governing body is of paramount importance to the University. The overall responsibility of this position is for the successful operation of the program in full compliance with all such rules and regulations. As a condition of employment, the Employee shall be required to participate in rules education programs offered by the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.

Shooting, editing, and creating original and captivating content intended for all 22 Washington Athletics social channels, from conceptualization to completion. Creating eye-catching videoboard content for 9 in-venue shows, ranging from intro videos, crowd rousers, motion templates, etc. intended for videoboards and ribbon MOEs.

Attending conceptualization meetings for assigned sports, working with team operations and SIDS with the intention of providing the best coverage and support for each individual team on social channels as well as in-venue videoboard shows when applicable.

Managing part-time staff through communication and scheduling. As well as recruiting talented individuals to join our team.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in digital media, film, communications, business, public relations or related field. Professional experience may substitute for stated educational requirements.
A minimum of two years of experience in video and/or multimedia production. Proficient in video editing programs, technical use of video cameras, and possess superior organizational skills in order to coordinate several major video projects simultaneously. Ability to identify new, engaging, best-practice approaches to creative video production and story-telling via multiplatform communication strategies. Ability to consistently lift and carry at least 40 pounds.
Desired Qualifications:
Master’s degree and knowledge of collegiate athletics helpful, but not required. Advance knowledge of lighting/cinematography and sound for interview/studio shoots. Advance knowledge of professional video camera systems and Sony / mirrorless systems. Green screen workflow from production to post-production. Experience with modern production pipelines. Expert level proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Premiere, After Effects, and Photoshop. Experience with modern encoding and delivery practices.
