The Department of Athletics at the University of Virginia is now accepting applications for the position of Athletics Senior Electrician to support the department's Facilities and Game Operations office.
This position will support the Department of Athletics' goal of providing operational excellence through consistent, cost effective, proactive, and reliable maintenance and service for the Athletics Maintenance Shop.
Reporting to the Shop Supervisor, the Senior Electrician sets the day-to-day schedule as dictated by the needs of the Department of Athletics. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Procuring supplies to maintain inventory and assets (ranging from light bulbs to video board parts/power supplies, etc.).
Serving as the main point of contact with electric/video board/scoreboard contractors (Daktronics, OES, etc.).
Responsible for maintaining expense card and reports and gathering cost estimates for unit leadership.
Involvement/advising with project installations at new venues and/or upgrades to existing venues.
Coordinating maintenance efforts with Shop Supervisor.
Overseeing preventative maintenance for electrical systems/scoreboards/video boards in all athletics facilities.
Planning and organizing annual testing/checks of emergency systems, ensuring any findings are repaired.
Supervising of 1 full time electrical helper.
Managing athletics facilities video, timing and sound systems (video boards, ribbon boards, scoreboards, shot clocks, scorer’s tables, precision timing, speakers, amps, control boards, etc.).
Scheduling electrician coverage for athletic events.
Providing electrician duties, as needed.
Anticipated hiring range: $60,000 - $68,000 dependent upon qualifications. The selected candidate will pass a background check. This is a full-time, overtime eligible position with UVa benefits. Employees benefits package highlights include:

Qualifications
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent
Seven years of experience
Journey or master level electrical license.
Valid driver’s license.
Working skills in the use of the tools and instruments used to install and maintain electrical equipment.
Demonstrated ability to read, write and perform basic mathematical calculations; to lay out work details; and to interpret and work from blueprints.
Ability to adapt to a flexible work schedule to include occasional evenings, nights and weekends in support of athletic events.
Basic computer use and familiarity of Microsoft Office.
Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree.
Minimum of two years of related experience in facility maintenance and supervision.
Prior experience in an athletics setting or sports/entertainment venue is highly preferred.
Familiarity with electrical devices utilized in athletic venues, such as scoreboards, video boards, game controls equipment, etc.
Physical Demands
Employee will be required to lift various weights, climb ladders and stairs in order to complete jobs. The use of both hands and a repetitive motion will be required while performing duties.
