University of Utah Athletics is now accepting applications in the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics for the position of Director of Photography. Utah is a NCAA Division I school and a member of the Big 12 Conference. The Director of Photography is a crucial role within Utah Athletics and is responsible for the photography coverage, execution and delivery for all Utah sporting events as well as Athletics academic events. As part of the Digital and Creative Media team, this position is a leader in the department and will be looked to as the photography expert.
The Director of Photography will manage all photography needs for the University of Utah Athletics Department, to include photo shoots, portrait and team photos, game/event coverage and specialty photography assignments, as well as the cultivating and mentoring a team of student interns. The position will work closely with multiple departments within Athletics, including communications, marketing, development and ticketing, and individual sport programs, to schedule and perform photography functions that serve the priorities of Utah Athletics. Position includes travel to select road events throughout the year, including preseason media days and postseason competition. This position is responsible for shooting, editing, labeling and cataloguing photography assets for Utah Athletics. In addition, the Director of Photography will manage all digital assets in Photoshelter for access, distribution and archival purposes, and work collaboratively within the Digital and Creative Media team and across each sport program and other Athletics Department units. Responsibilities also include coordinating and scheduling of freelance photographers.
