Job Summary
Assist head coach in providing management in all facets of the softball program. Responsible for recruiting prospective student-athletes, on field training/coaching, leading development in assigned focus area, student-athlete welfare initiatives, academics, scheduling, retention, and fundraising, with the university, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.
Core Responsibilities
Performs duties assigned by the head coach.
Recruits high quality student-athletes
Assists head coach with coaching/training relating to proper techniques.
Assists with student-athlete development welfare programs.
Assists with team operation responsibilities.
Assists with scheduling.
Builds professional relationships with staff and student-athletes.
Assists with all administrative processes, especially business office and compliance
Maintains knowledge of NCAA, American Athletic Conference (AAC), UTSA, UT System rules and/or regulations.
Assists with and support the coordination of the various booster, fundraising and community programs.
Represents the university/softball program at off-campus functions.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
Three (3) years of related professional experience as a softball coach.
This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UTSA and its infrastructure.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree from an accredited institution.
Experience working with a division I softball program.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Requires specific knowledge in the sport of Softball, and knowledge and compliance with all NCAA, AAC, State of Texas and UTSA rules and regulations.
Knowledge of personal computers, Microsoft Office, standard office equipment and all equipment used in softball.

Working Conditions
Physical activity in Softball.
Work requires weekend and evening hours as well as travel.
Physical Demands:
Standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods of time.
Occasional lifting and moving of items up to 50 lbs.
This position will be primarily located on campus. Travel and parking expenses are the employee’s responsibility.
