Scope of Job
Directs and has primary responsibility for the operations of the ticket sales office for athletic events. Responsible for assuring proper ticket inventory for all upcoming events, all counter and mail order ticket sales for events using the box office facility by administering accounting and auditing controls over all tickets as required by internal and external auditors including all administrative aspects.
Description of Duties
  • Directs and has primary responsibility for the operations of the ticket sales office for athletic events.
  • Manages the day-to-day operations and customer service for the athletic ticket box office.
  • Coordinates the solicitation of season ticket and group sales.
  • Oversees ticket sales campaigns for all ticketed sports. Develops and implements a plan to assure a sales goals are achieved.
  • Manages all ticket subscriptions and website materials.
  • Oversees over the counter and mail order ticket sales for events at various box office facilities.
  • Administers accounting and auditing controls over all tickets as required by internal and external auditors including all administrative aspects.
  • Supervises ticket control, group reservations and admissions to department events.
  • Responsible for the coordination, the design, layout and purchase of season tickets, ticket packages, and individual game tickets.
  • Prepares ticket bid specifications for submission to Procurement Office, as required, and initiates inventory control procedures to assure sufficient supply of tickets at all times.
  • Administers and controls cash flow from ticket sales.
  • Reconciles ticket office statements, verifies cash funds and supervises gathering and evaluation of statistics related to ticket sales.
  • Hires, trains, and supervises ticket box office personnel in selling tickets, mail order operations, telephone procedures, cash controls and accounting procedures.
  • Maintains accurate records of ticket sales and attendance figures for use in developing departmental reports and projections.
  • Responsible for evaluating, developing, and managing policies and procedures related to the operation of the ticket operations.
  • Assists in the development of the annual fund organization.
  • Assists with all fundraising events within the athletic department.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

General direction from assigned supervisor.

Required Education
Bachelors’ degree from an accredited university.

Licenses/Certifications
None.
Required Experience
Two (2) years of experience in ticket operations, development, or marketing and promotions in either the collegiate, professional or sports marketing field.
Preferred Experience
Experience working in a similar capacity in college athletics, professional sports, sales, or community relations. Knowledge of sports ticket sales strategies and/or a network of relationships within the UTRGV and RGV community.
Equipment
Use of standard office equipment.

Preferred: Experience with ticketing software.
Working Conditions
Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Usual office conditions plus attendance at various University sports events. Ability to work extended hours that are often outside of the normal business schedule such as evenings, weekends, and holidays. Occasional travel is required. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. UTRGV is a distributed institution, which requires presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills; must possess the ability to work independently in a multitask environment. Ability to exhibit integrity with high ethical standards and strict adherence to NCAA, conference, university and departmental rules and regulations. Demonstrated ability to collaborate successfully with internal and external stakeholder groups.
