Live Events Producer

Additional hours will be required to include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. This job is not suitable for remote work and is expected to work regular on-site hours, in addition to events.  Travel may be required.

Purpose

The purpose of the Live Events Producer is to ensure Texas Athletics’ productions not only meet, but exceed industry standards. The Live Events Producer will assist in the coordination and execution of the athletics department’s ESPN and SEC Network broadcasts, in addition to big screen shows. 

Responsibilities

  • For digital and linear events, serves as an Associate Producer, overseeing the preparation of all graphic assets, including conducting research for each broadcast to obtain information necessary for the production.

  • Serves in a variety of other production roles for digital and linear events on the SEC Network or videoboard shows including Producer, Director, Assistant Director, etc.

  • Assists in the recruitment, development, and mentorship of student workers, temporary employees, and professional service contractors; This includes employees who work in production control rooms and employees who work in-venue.

  • Ensures all broadcast and quality standards set by The University of Texas, SEC, ESPN and external stakeholders are maintained.

  • Collaborates with Texas Studios production and engineering staffs for implementation of technical operations. Assists the engineering staff with the equipment load in/out, facs, rehearsal and other technical needs of each production.

  • Collaborates with third-party vendors and clients, external entities (ESPN), and multiple Texas Athletics departments that include but are not limited to marketing, communications, business office, Longhorn Sports Properties (LSP) and event management to ensure all operational needs for broadcasts and videoboard shows are met.

  • Prepares for each production to ensure quality, accurate and innovative content airs on Texas Athletics broadcasts, inside of Texas Athletics venues, and the Longhorn Network.

  • Assists with administrative tasks including, but not limited to, invoicing, crew meals, onboarding of student workers, etc.

  • Consistently exemplify the core values and quality service standards of Texas Athletics. Always act ethically. Proactively seek guidance when unsure or unclear of a law, rule or policy applicable to you or your department/sport program. Actively participate in assigned education and training programs. Comply with all laws, policies, rules and regulations set forth by the Board of Regents of The University of Texas System, The University of Texas at Austin, NCAA, Conference, or other governing body, including state and federal laws. Do not engage in any sports wagering activities in accordance with NCAA rules and state law. Annually obtain prior written approval and report all outside activities and outside income. Report knowledge of, or reasonable cause to believe, violation(s) of state or federal laws, policies, rules, or regulations of the University, Conference, or NCAA to IA ARMCS or IA HR. Fully cooperate with any investigation by providing complete and accurate information when requested to do so by Texas Athletics and/or the NCAA and do not influence others in any way during an investigation. Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Broadcast Journalism, Sports Management or related field. One or more years of professional experience in live event production. Excellent organizational, problem-solving and communication skills. Intermediate knowledge of broadcast technologies such as Ross Xpression, Evertz Dreamcatcher and/or VizRt. Intermediate knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, including Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Photoshop. Knowledge of operational standards and best practices for TV broadcasts. Ability to work in high stakes environments and adapt to constantly changing demands. Ability to challenge the status quo while still maintaining the integrity of a brand. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Professional experience in intercollegiate athletics or professional sports. Experience with SEC/ACC Network, or another ESPN Family of Network linear broadcast experience. Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, including Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects and Photoshop. Experience training students.
