ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:

The USF Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is an integral part of USF and its mission by sponsoring a diverse and nationally competitive Division I athletic program. The program serves several significant constituencies, including its student-athletes, who are students first. The most important priority of the program is the progress of the student-athletes toward graduation. Other priorities include the health, fitness and emotional development of student-athletes at USF.

Intercollegiate Athletics provide a sense of collegiality, allegiance, and pride for students, staff, faculty, alumni, boosters and the greater Tampa Bay community at large and serves as a focal point for their support. Within the framework of competitive excellence, Intercollegiate Athletics at USF are also a contact vehicle leading supporters to a greater awareness of the University's mission, academic programs and prominence as an educational institution.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting directly to the Head Coach for the USF Women's Volleyball program with the primary responsibility to support the Head Coach in administration of a competitive NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball program that adheres to all University, Conference and NCAA rules and regulations. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: provide coaching and administrative assistance to the Head Coach, assist with scouting and recruiting of student-athletes, assist with promotions and fund raising, monitor the training, academic progress and eligibility status of student-athletes, manage team travel and oversee the discipline, conduct and image of student athletes.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assists in coaching student athletes individually and in groups. Demonstrates game techniques and develops/recommends game strategy and position assignments. Assists in the planning and execution of team practice sessions.

Assists in the scouting and recruiting of potential student athletes. Attends primary evaluation sites to identify talent, travels to games and/or tournaments to evaluate student athlete prospects and makes home visits to talk to top prospects and parents. All while maintaining compliance with NCAA, Conference, and institutional rules and regulations.

Responsible for administrative functions included, but not limited to, monitoring the purchase of uniforms, equipment and supplies, including accountability for expense control and administration of the sport's budget. Requests cash advances for team travel from the Athletics Business Office and accounts for all expenditures by timely submitting receipts.

Monitors and maintains the discipline and conduct of student athletes to support the image and reputation of the program. This includes, but is not limited to, monitoring student athlete's social networking websites.

Participates in public relations activities. Assists with planning and coordinating promotional and fund raising activities.

Performs other duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

MINIMUM:

This position requires a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in an appropriate area of specialization, and one year of coaching experience at the high school level or above. Successful experience as a graduate student or intern is acceptable for up to one year of the required experience. Additional education and/or experience may be required for certain sports, or for strength and conditioning coaches. Related coaching experience at the professional level can be substituted for the degree requirements.

FLSB1310 Equivalency:

4 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree.
6 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for master's degree.

PREFERRED:

Master's degree in related field from an accredited university. One or more years of coaching at the college/university level or professional level.
