Job Summary:
The Senior Associate Athletic Director, Administration and Facilities will be a member of the University of San Francisco Athletic Department Senior Leadership Team, functioning as the chief of operations and people, and will oversee a broad range of programs and activities including, but not limited to, strategic planning and execution, human resources, athletics facilities, and all areas related to the overall performance of student athletics including athletic training, strength and conditioning, mental health and peak performance training, and sports nutrition. Additionally, this position will serve as the sport supervisor for assigned sports, as well as the senior supervisor of the leaders of multiple units and programs. The Senior Associate Athletic Director will report directly to the University of San Francisco Director of Athletics.
Full Job Description:
Essential Responsibilities: Oversee, lead and manage personnel and activities of assigned administrative units and programs, supporting and enabling all areas in reaching performance goals. Provide guidance to staff and students for all administrative support services. Interact with all student athletes, coaches, administrative staff, and other University stakeholders with respect to logistics, and personnel concerns and problems. Manage appropriately, in coordination with university officials, student-athlete conduct issues. Serve as liaison to university Title IX office. Develop and implement department-wide policies and procedures for internal operations to improve efficiency. Develop and manage a strategic planning process for the department clearly defining department goals and strategies consistent with university objectives. Directly supervise the day-to-day operations for assigned sports. Serve on WCC and NCAA committees as necessary representing University interests in the evolving structure of intercollegiate athletics. This position may be considered for designation as the department's Senior Women's Administrator.
Capital Projects and Facilities
Oversee Associate Athletics Director for Events and Operations and events staff. Strategically plan for and lead athletics capital facilities projects. Manage the Facilities budget for the Department of Athletics. Administer department policies pertaining to operations and facilities. Oversee access to athletics facilities and the issuance and collection of department staff keys. Negotiate and schedule third party rentals of athletics facilities. Produce capital project maintenance submittals and work orders to the University Facilities Department. Liaison for matters of safety and security with campus facility and public safety department for Athletics contests and non-athletics events.
Human Resources
Work with the Associate Athletic Director for Business and Finance on all personnel related issues and oversee activities including but not limited to searching, hiring, orientation, evaluation, and termination of staff and student employees. Assist the Director of Athletics with the department's annual performance evaluation process.
Unit and Program Oversight
Provide oversight, direction and mentorship to the personnel of assigned functional units and sports programs consistent with Athletics Department guidelines.
Policies and Procedures
Codify, synchronize, maintain and broadly distribute Athletics Department policies and procedures affecting student athletes, coaches, administrators and third-party providers.
Cura Personalis: Supervise and ensure coordinated efforts of athletic training, strength and conditioning, mental health and nutrition staff and programs to maximize coverage for all sports.
- Athletic Training
Supervise the Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Training and all athletic training services. Oversee the coordination of rehabilitation/injury prevention programs and the strength and conditioning programs to maximize the performance of student-athletes. Collaborate with team physicians and outside providers to improve services for student-athletes.
- Strength and Conditioning
Supervise the Assistant Athletic Director of Strength and Conditioning and staff. Oversee the development and administration of a sound strength and conditioning program.
- Mental Health
In coordination with university experts and resources, oversee the continued development of mental health services for student athletes. Supervise third party providers.
- Nutrition
Oversee a sports nutrition program for all student-athletes. Work with the Associate Athletic Director for Business and Finance, Dining Services and nutritionist to implement and oversee “training table” activities for all student-athletes.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred. Must have at least eight years of experience in intercollegiate athletics or related field with deep and fluid knowledge of policies and practices unique to NCAA Division I athletics and a creative aptitude relative to paradigm changes. A minimum of six years of work and increasing responsibilities in areas including budget, finances and related management experience required. A minimum of five years of experience in personnel management is required, preferably including sizeable functional units. Must have a thorough knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations and the application of those to all situations. Excellent interpersonal, communication and written skills. Ability to evaluate staff in an athletic department. Ability to successfully manage multiple projects at once in a fast-paced environment.

$113,800 - $183,298 annualized; commensurate with experience.
