IPP Strength and Conditioning Program Specialist

The University of North Georgia is accepting applications for an IPP Strength and Conditioning Program Specialist. This position directs and coordinates the University's strength and conditioning program to support the physical readiness and tactical durability for the Corps of Cadets. Develops, implements, and evaluates a physical-performance system aligned with the cadet training calendar, Army Holistic Health and Fitness principles, commissioning requirements, and field-training demands. The position requires routine hands-on coaching, leader development, interdisciplinary coordination, and includes nontraditional training environments.

Responsibilities

  • Co-develop and implement Corps periodized physical-performance plans into a balanced readiness model.

  • Provides hands-on coaching, movement instruction, and leader development in individual and formation settings.

  • Conducts assessments and performance monitoring; maintains training and testing information and evaluates program effectiveness.

  • Plans and/or supports focused preparation for identified specialty cohorts, field-training and designated events

  • Implements reconditioning and modified-training plans within documented restrictions and established referral and return-to-performance procedures.

  • Collaborates across IPP, CLA, clinical, performance, and H2F disciplines; supports approved data, quality-improvement, and research activities.

  • Coordinates program operations, safety, facilities, equipment, logistics, and resource stewardship; provides technical direction and quality control to assigned support personnel as delegated.

 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities 

  • Skill in large-group coaching, program design, assessment, monitoring, and training-risk controls.

  • Strong oral/written communication, judgment, organization, and ability to collaborate with senior leaders, clinicians, faculty, and performance professionals.

  • Ability to coach with varied ability levels; translate technical concepts into executable training.

     

  • Ability to use performance/data systems to monitor, track and improve systems.

  • Must be able to work early mornings, occasional evenings/weekends, outdoor and field environments, and approved travel; demonstrate exercises; lift or move up to 50 pounds; maintain required credentials.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in exercise science, kinesiology, strength and conditioning, human performance, or closely related field required.

  • Current NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) or Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) required. CPR/AED and First Aid required before independent coaching.

  • Minimum three years of progressively responsible collegiate, military, tactical, or comparable strength and conditioning experience, including large-group programming, required.
