Primary responsibilities include providing direct medical support for the UNLV teams as assigned. This position also includes coverage for home events and other events as deemed necessary. Home coverage includes set up for the event and coordination with physicians and emergency services. In addition, this position will be responsible for assisting the athletic training staff in preventative health care, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries/illnesses for 17 sponsored intercollegiate athletic teams, cheerleading, dance and pom. This position will be required to comply with all NCAA, HIPPA and FERPA requirements and will maintain medical records, coordinates health care with physicians and will assist in the supervision and management of an athletic training facility.
UNLV also sponsors a CAATE accredited undergraduate athletic training educational program and this position may on occasion be required to assist in the education of all student-athletes, undergraduate athletic training students and graduate students.
This position should have a basic knowledge of NCAA rules as it pertains to assigned job duties and the scope of employment. In addition, the individual will be responsible for obtaining proper guidance or approval from Athletics Compliance, prior to participating in select activities, as defined by NCAA bylaws or institutional policies.
