The Senior Associate Athletic Director for External Affairs provides leadership of a strategic and comprehensive external operations program for Omaha Athletics. Reporting to the Vice Chancellor / Director of Athletics, responsibilities include the development and oversight of Omaha Athletics external revenue generation and operational business units including Athletics Ticketing, Baxter Arena Box Office, Sports Marketing, Promotions, Athletic Communications, Creative Services, and Video Production. In addition to staff oversight, this position will be charged with macro-oversight of externally related business functions including communications, licensing, branding, special events and management of the department’s partnership with Learfield/Omaha Sports Propertiesregarding corporate sponsorship activations. This position will serve as a member of the Athletics cabinet and senior staff while serving as a liaison to University partners including the Office of Strategic Marketing and Communications, School of CFAM, and the UNO Alumni Association.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree
6-10 years related work experience in athletic administration.
6-10 years related work experience in revenue generation including, but not limited to, development, business development, corporate sales, ticket sales, etc.
Significant personnel and program management experience required.
Volunteer management and experience working with committees and boards preferred.
Experience in higher education and an understanding how Athletic Departments run in a university setting preferred.
Ability to travel nationally for athletics events and external constituent meetings.
Familiarity with common industry customer relations management databases including Ticketing, Development, Box Office and Sales specific software.
Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA, NCHC and Summit League guidelines, policies, rules and regulations preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to think strategically and quickly summarize complex and detailed information.
Ability to work effectively with coaches, students, faculty, administration, University leadership, and the community at large.
Significant experience managing crisis situations.
Appreciation and understanding of the University of Nebraska mission and the ability to effectively communicate it.
