Responsible for developing the strategy for securing and servicing a variety of third-party special events for Nebraska Athletics, including concerts, meetings, conferences, banquets, campus related special events, and any external needs Athletics’ facilities are capable of servicing in support of the local and surrounding businesses and individual patron needs. This new position will guide the development for building the Special Events department from the ground up. Duties will include creating standard operating procedures manuals, rental guidelines, rental price benchmarking, projecting expenses associated with rentals (direct costs), evaluating internal and external FFE needs which support rentals, an evaluation on rental inventory, internal networking to understand support capabilities, and working closely with the facilities operations team on coordination of set-up and direct cost analysis. Additional responsibilities will be to manage all internal special events that support interdepartmental and team-initiated functions; oversee public tours within athletic facilities; maintain and monitor the budgeting, revenue generation projections and goals; and the supervision of full-time staff. Weekend, evening hours and travel will be required. Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of full-time management level experience to include specific sales and operations-based experience within the sports and/or entertainment industry. Training and/or experience with sales and contract management. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to engage effectively with others.
