The assistant lead coach supports the head coach in developing and maintaining a competitive NCAA Division I sports program. Responsibilities include assisting with recruiting and scouting prospective student-athletes, coaching and developing players, coordinating team travel, managing aspects of program administration, participating in fundraising activities, and performing other duties as assigned by the head coach. The assistant lead coach fosters positive relationships with student-athletes, colleagues, university staff, alumni, and the broader community. A commitment to NCAA, conference, and university rules compliance, as well as the academic success of student-athletes, is essential.
Physical Demands: The scope of the position frequently requires evening, weekend, and holiday work (non-standard work hours). While performing the essential functions of the job, the employee operates a computer and other office devices, such as telephones, copy machines, fax machines, etc.; constantly moves about the facility and event site before, during, and after events for service clients; and continually communicates via telephone, email, and in person with others to exchange accurate information. The job requires the employee to stand, walk, kneel/crouch, balance, and lift up to 25 pounds.
Preferences: Experience within the Big Ten as a coach, practice partner, and/or student-athlete.
