The Sports Turf Manager Associate serves as a primary support to the Sports Turf Manager, assisting in the daily maintenance and operations of high-quality playing surfaces across multiple athletic facilities. This role helps oversee turf management at Kroger Field, football practice fields, and Nutter Field House, while also providing support for other venues as needed.
Key responsibilities include:
assisting with oversight of full and part-time employees
operating and instructing staff on Sports Turf equipment
assisting with fungicide, pesticide, and fertilizer applications
ensuring proper field maintenance
This position plays a critical role in training employees, managing inventory, and recommending equipment repairs or purchases.
The role requires significant physical demands, including lifting, pushing, and pulling 50 lbs or more, and exposure to extreme weather conditions. The successful candidate must be available for overtime, snow removal, and fulfill the obligations of Plan B designated employees when necessary.
Category 3 Licensing & Certification (Turf and Ornamental Pest Control) is required within six months of hire. Compliance with SEC, University, and NCAA rules and regulations is mandatory.
