Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing & Promotions

The University of Indianapolis is seeking a creative and driven professional to serve as Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing and Promotions. This role is responsible for creating and executing marketing initiatives that drive attendance, enhance the game day experience, elevate the UIndy Athletics brand, and engage students, alumni, and the broader Indianapolis community. This position plays a key role in the external operations unit, with a direct focus on fan engagement and promotional strategy across 23 NCAA Division II sports. 

REQUIREMENTS/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience

  • Experience working in a collegiate or professional sports environment, preferably in a marketing, promotions, ticketing, or external operations role.

  • Strong understanding of marketing, tickets, and promotions strategies.

  • Experience supervising staff, including student interns or student workers.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This position will oversee marketing and promotions and supervise graduate assistant, student intern, and student worker roles.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive marketing plans for UIndy Athletics with an emphasis on fan engagement, attendance growth, and brand visibility.

  • Produce and direct all-game day scripts and in-game presentations for home athletic events, including music, video content, PA reads, and fan interactions.

  • Plan and implement single-game promotions and themed events to enhance the in-venue experience and drive ticket sales.

  • Coordinate and manage all in-game fan activations, contests, and special recognitions.

  • Collaborate with campus partners to promote student, faculty, and staff attendance.

  • Serve as the primary liaison for spirit squads and mascots, including scheduling appearances and coordinating spirit initiatives.

  • Work closely with the Greyhound Club and Corporate Partnership teams to fulfill sponsorship deliverables and integrate promotional assets.

  • Drive community engagement strategies.

  • Oversee marketing interns and student workers, providing mentorship and hands-on experience in athletics marketing operations.

  • Support social media and digital content strategies to promote events and engage with fans before, during, and after competitions.

  • Demonstrate respectful, ethical, responsible behavior.

  • Abide by the University’s policies, procedures, and rules.

  • Perform employee responsibilities as detailed in employee handbooks and policies.

  • Demonstrate regular and predictable attendance and punctuality.

  • Other duties, including special projects, as required or assigned.
