Assistant Coach- Basketball Operations Men's Basketball

The UIC Department of Intercollegiate Athletics invites applications for the Assistant Coach - Basketball Operations Men's Basketball position to join our team of dedicated and highly skilled professionals.

This position provides day-to-day oversight of administrative & operational functions for the basketball program. This position works closely with the head coach and basketball coaching staff, in the overall direction of a successful, Division I basketball program.

Duties & Responsibilities

·        Assists the Head Coach in various administrative assignments.

·        Manage day to day operations of Basketball office.

·        Coordinate travel and meals for team, coaches and associated personnel.

·        Schedule meetings, practices and other team functions.

·        Manage time management plan and related software for basketball.

·        Coordinate recruiting visits for prospective student-athletes.

·        Serve as liaison between basketball office and other offices in the Athletic Department (Academic Services, Facilities, Business, IT, Athletic Communications, etc.)

·        Ensures program/project mission, values, guidelines, policies & procedures are implemented & maintained.

·        Ensure technology systems are properly installed & maintained.

·        Implement strategy regarding structure, process, & staff support of students in compliance with UIC policies.

·        Coordinate pre-season housing and meal arrangements and serve as liaison with the campus constituents.

·        Coordinate basketball camps and clinics, including communication, outreach, recruitment.

·        Incorporate social media and networking into program aspects as appropriate.

·        Strengthen partnerships with external resources by defining, promoting and marketing benefits of participation and involvement to the organization

·        Create and nurture relationships with organizations to develop a network of enthusiastic organizations engaged via active participation in the success of program.

·        Develop plans and arrange meetings, workshops, events, etc. designed to exchange information, promote research objectives, and to build internal and external relationships within UIC.

·        Coordinate programming, educational, student, alumni, workshops, meetings, etc. including speakers, agendas, etc.

·        Ensure that event details including communication, venues, presenters, travel arrangements, materials, refreshments and technology are arranged and completed in an appropriate and timely manner.

·        Supervise part-time temporary help, including work-study students and team managers.

·        Manage special projects as assigned by the basketball coaching staff.

·        Attend CPR and other safety classes arranged by Athletics and receive certificate.

·        Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

·        Adhere to all University, Conference and NCAA rules and regulations.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred in field related to Physical Education, Recreation, Kinesiology, and/or Sports Management.

 

Direct knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations required.


Five or more years of collegiate basketball playing and/or coaching experience, preferably at the Division I level or the professional level.


Basketball knowledge, strong organizational and motivation skills, and excellent oral and written skills required.


Strong interpersonal, management and communication skills.
