NCAA Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance

Position Summary:
This position assists the Associate Athletics Director for Compliance in all aspects of the athletics department NCAA rules education and compliance program for NCAA and conference rules. The position acts as a university liaison with the NCAA and affiliated conferences, office of general counsel and outside constituent groups regarding rules interpretations and compliance issues. It interacts effectively with general counsel and the athletic department coaches and staff, student-athletes, university faculty and staff, administration, and outside entities through:
• Development and dissemination of rules awareness and education programs, including rules interpretations
• Creation of applicable institution and department rules, policies and processes addressing rules compliance
• Conducting and monitoring of athletic department activities and other relevant university activities to assess and investigate compliance of the athletic department and other relevant university units
• Documentation of activities and/or findings in each of the above areas and reporting instances of non-compliance to appropriate university administrators and to appropriate governing bodies, including NCAA and conference compliance offices. The position reports to the Office of General Counsel
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Experience making procedural decisions and judgments on sensitive, confidential issues
• Using computer software programs such as word processing and spreadsheets
• Applying rules, regulations, and laws regarding student records
Preferred Qualifications:
• Master’s degree or Juris Doctorate degree
• One or more years of NCAA Division 1 compliance experience
• Strong organizational skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Personal and professional integrity
• Experience with international programs and admissions processes
• Ability to establish good rapport with administration, coaches, faculty, staff, and student-athletes
• Ability to effectively utilize computerized student information systems and NCAA Compliance Assistant software
