
Position Overview
Reporting to the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Development/Executive Director of Cougar Pride, this position’s primary focus is to develop and execute short and long-range strategies to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward prospects capable of making major gifts to Houston Athletics. This position will manage a balanced portfolio through qualifying visits, cultivation of prospects, & prospect solicitation. The Senior Director for Development, Major Gifts is highly collaborative, committed to a culture of excellence, demonstrates advanced fundraising competencies, and helps sustain Houston Athletics’ fundraising success and growth through their leadership.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Develop and manage a portfolio of 175 major gift prospects with a keen focus on pipeline development and moves management. Possible work on a campaign or capital projects and the demonstrated ability to close major gift asks.
2. Perform donor and prospect research
3. Conduct at least 15-20 strategic moves, including face to face visits, with prospects and donors per month and participate in 30+ solicitations per year.
4. Provide leadership and guidance to the Director of Major Gifts and work collaboratively with the Director of External Operations to execute stewardship for the newly created Major Giving Society (Nantz Leadership Society).
5. Serve as the fundraising contact for a sport(s) that will be assigned by Senior Associate Athletic Director for Development/Executive Director of Cougar Pride.
· Be a conduit for open, active communication, between the Head Coach of the Program, Sport Administrator, and the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Development/Executive Director of cougar Pride.
6. For assigned responsibilities, execute strategic priorities, as defined by leadership, that advance the Department’s vision, mission, goals, while driving results, growing the donor base and revenues that are much needed for success. Ensure UH Athletics remains in-line with university, conference, and NCAA expectations with respect to policies, procedures, and processes.
7. In all situations, serve as a positive Ambassador for UH Athletics and UH in general.
Effuse positivity and grow affinity for all things UH.
· Regularly attend athletic events and meetings, representing the Department/University to constituents. These events/meetings frequently occur during evenings and weekends.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in collegiate athletics, professional sports, fundraising, ticket sales, or related revenue-generation fields.
Ability to work non-traditional hours, including nights, weekends and event days
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Utilization of excellent interpersonal skills to provide quality customer service and to interact with a wide variety of stakeholders and clients, including donors, guests, and persons associated with the University community and the Athletic Department.
Ability to develop and sustain collaborative and supportive relationships with internal and external colleagues and prospects, and maintain a positive and constructive attitude while solving problems.
Knowledge of compliance with NCAA and Big 12 rules and regulations is required.
Customer service orientated consistent with UH Athletics mission, values, and core principles.
Experience in collegiate athletics, professional sports, or fundraising environments
Familiarity with ticketing and donor management systems (e.g., Paciolan) and/or CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce)
