Reporting to the Senior Associate Athletic Director/Executive Director of Development, the position’s primary focus is to develop and execute short and long-range strategies that identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward prospects capable of making major gifts to Houston Athletics. This position will closely collaborate with Athletics Development team members and other staff members from across the department to ensure good communication and synergy of operations leading to maximum results. The Major Gift roles is highly collaborative, committed to a culture of excellence, demonstrates advanced fundraising competencies, and helps sustain Houston Athletics’ fundraising success and growth through their leadership.
1. Develop and manage a portfolio of 175+ major gift prospects.
2. Conduct at least 15-20 strategic moves with prospects and donors per month and participate in a minimum of 40+ solicitations per year.
3. Provide leadership and guidance to the Director of Donor Relations and Stewardship to execute the newly created Major Giving Society.
4. Serve as the fundraising contact for multiple sports that will be assigned by Senior Associate Athletic Director/Executive Director of Development.
· Be a conduit for open, active communication, between the Head Coach of the Program, Sport Administrator, and the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Development/Executive Director of Development.
· Advocate for the needs of the program.
5. For assigned responsibilities, execute strategic priorities, as defined by leadership, that advance the Department’s vision, mission, goals, while driving results, growing the donor base and revenues that are much needed for success. Ensure UH Athletics remains in-line with university, conference, and NCAA expectations with respect to policies, procedures, and processes.
6. In all situations, serve as a positive Ambassador for UH Athletics and UH in general.
Effuse positivity and grow affinity for all things UH.
· Regularly attend athletic events and meetings, representing the Department/University to constituents. These events/meetings frequently occur during evenings and weekends.
7. Perform other job-related duties or projects as may be assigned.
Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4-year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed.
A minimum of five (5) years of job-related experience.
