Graduate Assistant Softball Coach

The University of Dubuque is a growing faith-based University that is seeking a Graduate Assistant for Softball for the 2025-2026 term, with a potential renewal for 2026-2027.

The University of Dubuque is a NCAA Division III institution and a member of the American Rivers Conference.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Analyze performance and instruct athletes in softball techniques and strategies in preparation for and during athletic competitions

  • Assist the head coach in the coordination of program management including, but not limited to, scheduling of competitions and practices, travel plans, laundry and equipment

  • Assist program with all phases of competitive recruiting in compliance with NCAA and A-R-C rules

  • Assist with monitoring academic progress of all student-athletes on the team, in connection with the coaching staff, compliance coordinator and athletic director

  • Execute practice and game planning/evaluation, including scouting and breakdown

  • Assist with developing social media platforms

  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the University's Mission

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree is required and the position is conditional based on acceptance into University of Dubuque Masters' program

  • Working knowledge of NCAA Division III and American Rivers Conference rules and compliance

  • Valid driver's license

  • Flexibility with schedule (ex. evening or weekend commitments)

  • High level of organization and attention to detail

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

  • Prior coaching experience and/or prior experience as an athlete (Pitching experience preferred)

  • Effective communication skills; both orally and written

All graduate tuition is waived for the student for the term in which they serve as a GA. In return for a waiver of tuition, the assistantship recipient agrees to provide service to the University equivalent to twenty (20) hours per week. Additionally, this position has the ability to receive campus housing and a meal plan or hourly compensation for duties/hours in addition to the required twenty (20) hours per week.
