Athletics Revenue Generation Assistant

Position Overview

UConn Athletics is seeking a candidates for a paid full-time internship position to support department-wide revenue initiatives. This role offers hands-on experience working directly with athletics administration to develop, execute, and optimize innovative revenue strategies, fan experiences, and special events.

 

The ideal candidate is proactive, organized, and passionate about college athletics, with a strong interest in revenue generation, fan engagement, and event operations.

 

This is a full-time, 40-hour per week Special Payroll position. Evening and weekend availability is required based on athletic events and program needs.


Key Responsibilities

 

Auctions, Memorabilia Sales & Buy-It-Now Campaigns

 

  • Lead the planning and execution of department auctions and Buy-It-Now Memorabilia Sales from concept to completion

  • Collaborate with internal teams to identify, source, and secure items

  • Manage all aspects of fulfillment, including:

    • Platform setup and item uploads

    • Inventory tracking and reconciliation

    • Shipping logistics and coordination

    • Customer service communication and issue resolution

  • Ensure a seamless and positive purchasing experience for fans and stakeholders

  • Assist with pricing strategy, inventory management, and campaign performance tracking

  • Support marketing efforts to promote campaigns across digital and in-venue channels

 

Add-On & Premium Fan Experiences

  • Develop and execute unique, revenue-generating fan experiences (e.g., behind-the-scenes access, VIP moments, exclusive interactions)

  • Manage full lifecycle of experiences, including ideation, planning, logistics, execution, and post-event follow-up

  • Attend select athletic events to coordinate and deliver high-touch fan experiences

  • Continuously evaluate and enhance offerings to maximize revenue and fan satisfaction

 

Events & Ancillary Revenue Initiatives

  • Support planning and execution of additional revenue-generating events such as:

    • Team open practices

    • Meet-and-greets

    • Special access events

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful execution

 

Strategy & Innovation

  • Contribute ideas and support new revenue generation opportunities across UConn Athletics

  • Assist, where applicable, in enhancement of existing revenue initiatives

  • Stay informed on industry trends in sports revenue, fan engagement, and experiential offerings

  • Assist in evaluating the effectiveness of initiatives and identifying areas for growth

 

Administrative & Team Collaboration

  • Hire, train, and supervise a small team of undergraduate and/or graduate student interns, providing day-to-day direction, delegating responsibilities, and ensuring successful execution of revenue generation initiatives and game/event operations

  • Attend and actively participate in revenue-focused staff meetings

  • Maintain organized records of inventory, sales, and fulfillment processes

  • Assist with reporting, tracking, and general administrative support as needed

  • Collaborate across departments including ticketing, marketing, communications, and operations


Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in college athletics, professional sports, or a related industry role

  • Strong organizational and project management skills with keen attention to detail

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment

  • Willingness to work non-traditional hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays

Preferred:

  • Experience with e-commerce platforms, auctions, or online sales campaigns

  • Background in event operations, ticketing, or fan experience

  • Familiarity with inventory management and fulfillment processes

  • Experience working with external vendors and customer service environments
