Position Overview
Under the general direction of the Manager of Media Services, the Coordinator of Multimedia Services for Athletics provides team leadership for centralized, enterprise-level multimedia service delivery. Coordinates multimedia services (including setup, production and postproduction) for meetings, conferences, training sessions, and campus events. Ensures the area’s technological level remains up to date, defines standards, and implements new procedures and techniques. Establishes team goals and objectives. Effectively collaborates across technology teams and business units through excellent communication skills, diplomacy and a positive attitude. Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with the mission, vision and values of the University of Central Oklahoma. Supervises student employees and provides functional direction to staff.
Provides overall support to UCO Athletics who use AV multimedia technology in all athletic facilities. Serves as the central point of contact for systems use by athletic coaching team, student athletes and external clients. Works in a flexible arena, collaborating with the Office of Information Technology (OIT) personnel to support UCO departments, faculty, staff and students who use multimedia technologies.
Job Duties
Provides Tier II and Tier III technical support and assistance to coaches, students and guests who utilize multimedia AV equipment in athletic facilities.
Maintenance and support of Newtek and Daktronics or other systems for audio and video hardware across athletic facilities to include Jumbotron, play by play, instant replay and scoreboard hardware technology.
Provides support of AV systems such as digital signage, projection systems, video, audio hardware, PA systems, HD cameras, video switchers and encoders, AV fiber networks etc.
Troubleshoots problems and performs minor repairs and routine maintenance on AV multimedia equipment. Coordinate vendor services as needed.
Reports multimedia systems production-down/production-critical support issues to IT Support and Operations. Initiates/maintains local institutional support channels with all appropriate technical areas.
Maintain accurate Technology asset management inventory of Athletic facilities and provide state required annual reports in a timely manner.
Works closely with and Assist the Athletic Administration team, primarily the Assistant Athletic Director-Media Relations.
Provides instructional and consultative services for purchase of media resources. Provides in-service for effective utilization of the audiovisual, video, media and production equipment, development applications, tools, and facilities. Maintains a positive learning environment in all UCO Athletic facilities. Keeps routines flexible in order to accommodate user schedules.
Creates and maintains documentation including diagrams, operational and support procedures. Publishes client-facing support documents to improve user experience.
Maintain access, security, scalability and usability of assigned application(s).
Researches and communicates new features of assigned application(s) and unused tool functionality to drive the platform expansion and adoption.
Continually updates skills and knowledge relative to the position and the technology industry
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Experience Required
Bachelor’s degree plus 3 years of experience in the administration of various types of multimedia equipment, streaming, multimedia content management, and/or web conferencing applications and systems, or an equivalent combination of work experience and education.
Must have a valid driver's license, clean driving record, and be able to operate a typical motor vehicle.
Qualifications/Experience Preferred:
Degree specialization in mass media or public communications production or another relevant discipline, or the equivalent in technical certifications and experience preferred. Experience in a higher education environment. Experience with learning management systems.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Ability to perform minor equipment repairs and maintenance. Knowledge of various industry-standard applications including audio and video editing tools, studio controls, audio systems, and digital camera technology. Knowledge of a media center operation, resource management, and technology. Demonstrated proficiency designing and producing multimedia objects and applications.
Maintains a customer-service attitude. Provides outstanding customer service and uses positive interpersonal communication skills. Promotes positive school/community relations with strong passion to sports. Demonstrates positive, collaborative and effective interpersonal relationships with administrators and colleagues. Strong analytical, organization and collaboration skills. Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical users. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to author procedures, knowledgebase articles and proposals. An advanced working knowledge of and experience with the design, installation and technical support of messaging and cloud collaboration solutions in a large environment. This position must be willing to work a flexible schedule to accommodate the Athletic season to include evening and weekends as needed.
This position is on-call 24x7x365 and requires the successful candidate to have high-speed internet access to their residence and maintain a smart phone on which to receive telephone calls, email and SMS messages from servers and authorized OIT personnel.
