UCF Athletics at the University of Central Florida, an NCAA Division I institution and Big 12 Conference member, is seeking applications for the position of Assistant / Associate A.D., Facilities.

The selected candidate will oversee the maintenance all athletics facilities, to include daily/weekly inspection of facilities noting potential problems, condition deterioration, useful lifespan of existing equipment, and future repairs/renovations, as well as creating and providing an internal facilities condition assessment so that athletics can have a multi-year schedule for proper budgeting considerations.  In this capacity, position serves as the lead on all minor projects (less than $2M) to ensure schedule, policy, and budget accountability with collaboration including coaches and other staff.  In addition, understanding that Athletics is a separate Direct Support Operations (DSO) unit of UCF, position will also actively collaborate with the UCF main campus facilities team to ensure athletics operations abides by university policy. 

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Oversees the day-to-day operations of all Athletics' facilities, including those on main campus and off-campus.  Researches, develops, and oversees the implementation of best practices and policies / procedures related to the safe operation, security, function and maintenance of Athletics facilities.  Serves as building manager as appropriate.

  • Oversees all facilities development projects including renovations, upgrades, and expenses.  Participates in development of assigned program budget and its components; has budget oversight responsibilities and must manage projects with an assigned budget.   

  • Assists Athletics Facilities Master Planning Committee in the development of a framework to guide the future of Athletics' facilities, including upgrades, enhancements, and new construction.  Research best practices to ensure relevancy and costs affiliated with potential projects. 

  • Acts as Athletics' project manager in coordination of specific major facilities projects for athletics, working as a liaison between Athletics, various professional consultants, and UCF personnel primarily throughout design, construction, and occupancy of facilities.

  • Provides progress updates to senior administrators; liaison with other entities both internal and external to Athletics to provide relevant information regarding scope, budget, and schedule of projects; includes written/verbal feedback.  Tracks progress towards a defined time schedule. 

  • During construction of athletics facilities, aids the Senior Executive Associate AD / COO with various regulatory offices (building code office, State Fire Marshall, St. Johns Water Management, electric and gas utilities, etc.)  Assists in ensuring fulfillment of contractual obligations by the architects, engineers, and contractors as they relate to the State of Florida, State University System and University's rules, policies, and standards relating to safety, fire protection systems, elevators, and HVAC control systems.

  • Ensure all competition facilities are event ready and comply with NCAA and Big XII standards.  While this position serves as the lead facilities condition supervisor, additional responsibilities will include assistance with game administration for Athletics sports events.  This responsibility requires knowledge of Athletics, University, Conference and NCAA rules and regulations regarding crowd control, security and emergency management.

Minimum qualifications: Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two (2) years appropriate experience; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and four (4) years of appropriate experience. Prefer senior level experience within intercollegiate athletics with emphasis in facilities management, and proficiency in facility management software (Workday, Ebuilder, Microsoft Office). Strong communication, relationship building, and teamwork skills are also preferred.  Due to the nature/scope of Athletics and Athletics events, position may require work on evenings, weekends, and holidays.  As a UCF Athletics staff member, the selected candidate will be a person of integrity and character who shares a commitment for knowing and complying with NCAA, Conference, and institutional rules as they apply to the UCF Athletics program.
