Under the leadership of the Senior Associate Athletics Director for Brand Communication, the selected candidate will oversee the strategic communications team and be responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of a progressive, results-oriented communications strategy while serving in a leadership capacity within a collaborative strategic communications environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the primary football media relations contact, managing all aspects of media relations, publications, and strategic communication efforts for the program.
Research, develop, and manage strategic communication mediums and programming to elevate the visibility of UCF Athletics within target markets. This includes daily oversight of the Athletics website and related digital platforms.
Collaborate with the external team—including Brand Experience, #Content, ChargeOn Fund, Corporate Partnerships, Ticketing, and Video Services—to enhance brand awareness, increase fan engagement, and maximize revenue opportunities.
Act as a liaison between media, coaches, and student-athletes, ensuring alignment with UCF’s brand and communications strategy.
Write, edit, and distribute press releases, features, and multimedia content across various platforms (website, social media, print, etc.), incorporating best practices to enhance fan engagement and program exposure.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with local, conference, and national media covering UCF Athletics. Coordinate press conferences, media interviews, and respond to media requests as needed.
Oversee the strategic communications budget, ensuring responsible management of expenses in accordance with Athletics' business office policies, including the selection and oversight of third-party vendors when necessary.
Represent UCF Athletics with the NCAA, conference leadership, and sports publications to promote student-athlete and program recognition (e.g., award nominations). May serve on external committees to further enhance the UCF Athletics brand.
Lead a high-demand, fast-paced environment that requires strong leadership skills and reliable attendance at UCF Athletics events, including frequent nights, weekends, and holidays.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree in an appropriate field with two (2) years of relevant experience; OR a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field with four (4) years of relevant experience.
Strong commitment to integrity, compliance, and ethical conduct in accordance with NCAA, conference, and institutional rules.
Preferred Qualifications:
Leadership experience in strategic communications in a fast-paced environment.
