Assistant Cross Country and Track & Field Coach (COACH AST 3) Job: 87977

Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Director, assist in all aspects of a NCAA Division I men’s and women’s cross country and track & field program including student-athlete recruitment, scheduling, team travel, scouting opponents, practice planning, assisting with the administration of summer camps and clinics, and administration of the cross country and track & field program in full compliance with NCAA and university rules and regulations.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. 

• Three (3) years of successful NCAA Division I collegiate coaching experience in the sport of cross country and track & field.

• Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations. Knowledge of the rules and strategies for cross country and track & field. This includes, but is not limited to, teaching techniques, coaching strategies and safety measures that are necessary for the UC Davis student-athlete to compete at the collegiate level.

• Skills to interact effectively and establish cooperative working relationships with UC Davis student-athletes, coaching colleagues, department staff and other persons from diverse backgrounds including parents, fans, boosters, members of the media and officials associated with the sport.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree from an accredited college or university. 

• Successful head cross country experience at the NCAA Division I level. 

• Ability to learn the complex policies and procedures regarding academic eligibility of UC Davis student athletes. These include UC Davis, Mountain West Conference and the National Collegiate Athletic Association policies and procedures.

• Salary or Pay Range: $45,000/annually - $70,000/annually; commensurate with education and experience.
