The University of Arkansas at Little Rock (Little Rock Athletics) is seeking a Senior Associate Athletics Director – Student-Athlete Support Services (SASS). Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the Senior Associate Athletics Director – SASS will serve as a member of the Leadership Team and plays a critical role in fostering the success and holistic development of student-athletes, empowering them to excel academically, athletically, and personally, preparing them to be Champions for Life. This role requires expertise in athletics administration as well as strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.
Required Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree
Preferred Education and/or Experience
Master’s degree preferred;
Experience in Intercollegiate Athletics/Higher Education.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Will serve as a member of the Leadership Team/Senior Staff;
If applicable, successful candidate may be eligible for NCAA designation as the program’s Senior Woman Administrator (SWA);
Primary Sport Administrator for assigned programs, which includes providing support, guidance, and mentoring; serving as a resource and advocate; being visible and accessible; and facilitating head coach hiring, supervision, and evaluation;
Lead Student-Athletes Support Services (SASS), including academic progress, support, achievement and reporting; leadership and life skills programming; student-athlete orientation; and overseeing the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC);
Conduct ongoing evaluations and assessments of academic services offered within SASS (tutoring, life skills programming, study tables, etc.);
Serve as the primary academic liaison for assigned sports;
Review and nominate student-athletes for academic achievement awards and scholarships;
Maintain communication with coaches, administrators, campus stakeholders, and Student-Athletes;
Provide oversight for assigned internal operations administrative units (i.e., Human Resources, Information Technology (IT), Sports Performance, etc.);
Serve as the departmental liaison with campus administrative offices including, but not limited to the Dean of Students, Housing, Registrar’s Office, Financial Aid, Admissions, Student Life, etc.
Serve as Deputy Title IX coordinator for the University, responsible for Title IX and NCAA gender equity planning, strategy, and monitoring;
Responsible for departmental policies/procedures development, including the Student-Athlete Handbook;
Collaborate with Compliance team to assess the initial eligibility of prospective Students-Athletes and continuing eligibility of current Student-Athletes;
Work collaboratively with Compliance on annual reporting (APR, GSR, and other NCAA reporting metrics);
Provide strategic leadership and direction to departmental staff, fostering a culture of accountability, transparency, and excellence;
Represent the University at various Institutional, Conference and NCAA meetings;
Comply with all applicable NCAA, Ohio Valley Conference (OVC), and UA Little Rock regulations;
Other related duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
Knowledge, Skills, and Responsibilities
Understanding of and experience with NCAA rules and regulations, particularly matters pertaining to academics, admissions, financial aid/scholarships, and eligibility preferred;
Excellent communication, interpersonal, project management, organizational, and leadership skills, with the ability to build consensus, foster collaboration, and inspire teams to achieve shared goals.
