Financial Analyst I

The financial analyst will analyze and prepare recommendations for short term financial planning and forecasting. Conducts ad hoc budget analysis for the Athletic Department to ensure proper accounting is completed for accurate financial reporting. This individual will monitor the athletic departments actual performance against budget and financial targets. The individual will assist in the completion of all financial reports for the Athletics Department.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conducts basic research and data analysis by compiling, interpreting, and evaluating data from various sources.

  • Assist in the preparation of regular financial data to departmental units. Generating reports on company expenses and profits

  • Assists in the preparation of financial forecasts and assists in analyzing historical data, identifying trends, and making projections to support budgeting decisions.

  • Assists in financial forecasting and reconciliation of internal accounts. Accurately recording and storing financial information.

  • Assists with completing all necessary financial reporting for the Athletics Department. Such as the Federal EADA Report, NCAA/AUP Report, NCAA Bowl Report, UBIT, etc. This individual will serve as one of the point of contacts during the external audit.

  • Assist in the coordination of programs and projects, guidance flows from leadership or departmental unit leaders.

  • Additional duties as assigned.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects with meticulous attention to detail and strict adherence to deadlines.

  • Ability to lead and facilitate group meetings.

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial management.

  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint,), Adobe Suite programs and other relevant software required).

  • Basic knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.

  • One (1) year of relevant work experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a college or university athletic department.

  • Experience in developing, managing, and adhering to budgets.
