Job Summary: The Associate Director of Athletic Major Gifts identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards prospective donors for the University of Alabama Department of Athletics. Cultivates relationships with new individuals, corporations, and foundations in support of the fundraising efforts of the Crimson Tide Foundation. Cultivates relationships through in-person donor visits and visits with previously unsolicited prospective donors. Solicits gifts including current gifts, pledges, and planned gifts. Works closely with other athletic department fundraisers to coordinate and collaborate in order to maximize gift potential for Alabama Athletics. Responsible for meeting monthly revenue and productivity goals.


Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of development, fundraising, sales, communications and/or public relations experience; OR master's degree and some development, fundraising, sales, communications and/or public relations experience.


Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must be able to travel locally and regionally. Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays on occasion.

Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions. Travel required.


Skills and Knowledge: Self-motivated and results-oriented. Ability to effectively develop and manage a portfolio of donors and donor prospects. Superb verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills. Positive attitude. Ability to use personal computer for word processing and to use other standard software packages.


Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years of experience, in development, fundraising, sales, or public relations; OR Master’s degree and (2) years of experience in development, fundraising, sales, or public relations. Knowledge in the areas of planned giving. Experience in Intercollegiate Athletics, Higher Education, or Not for Profit Organization. Degree in Business Administration, Sports Administration, Marketing, Management, or related field. Knowledge of Paciolan and Blackbaud CRM.
