Marketing Coordinator-Coast Guard Academy Athletic Corporation

To support the Athletics Division at the United States Coast Guard Academy
Position Summary:
In the support of the CGAAC’s mission, the Marketing Coordinator is responsible for supporting marketing, business development and operational efforts. In this high-impact, high visibility role, you will report to the Executive Director working closely with the other members of the CGAAC team. The team’s goal is to build a vibrant and revenue focused corporation to drive commercial value for Coast Guard Athletics. As the Marketing Coordinator, you will be instrumental in this growth and be responsible for the following:
What you’ll be doing:
• Working with Director of Programs and Events to develop marketing outreach & best practices
• New Business efforts including company research, concept ideation, presentation
development and reporting
• Assisting Operational Support/Business Development lead with local market strategy & execution
• Work with CGAAC team and SID’s office to create new content opportunities and manage the distribution of commercial efforts across digital/social channels
• Assisting Business Operations lead with Partnership Marketing efforts, activations and partner recaps
• Act as an on-site supervisor for events, camps and Academy rentals
• Assist Business Operations lead with development of CGAAC data-base
• Assist with on-site operational needs
• Ability to attend various Coast Guard Academy athletics events and work no -traditional hours as needed
• Other projects as assigned
Who you are:
• Minimum of 1-2 years of sports/marketing/business development experience
• Possess excellent writing, oral communication, and presentation skills.
• A strong worker, able to multi-task and handle several projects at once
• Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines. Must have excellent organizational skills and be detail-oriented
• Able to represent the CGAAC and Coast Guard Academy athletics when interacting with partners, and other USCGA personnel
• Have a strong customer first orientation for both internal and external constituents, a professional demeanor and the ability to maintain confidential information.
• Possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and be process oriented
• Degree in business, marketing, management, or related field
• Military and/or non-profit experience a plus
• Appreciation for college athletics, and participation as a student athlete also a plus
• Proficient in Microsoft Outlook applications, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint as well as Adobe Acrobat, Canva and CHAT GPT

The CGAAC is a newly registered 501(C)(3) designed to support the Athletics Division at the United States Coast Guard Academy (USCGA) in New London, CT. The USCGA is one of five federal service academies nationwide and falls under the Department of Homeland Security. The mission of the USCGA is to graduate service ready Ensigns within four years, who have earned a Bachelor of Science Degree and a Commission to serve as Officers in the United States Coast Guard. As part of the co-curricular approach to education, the USCGA Athletics program consists of twenty-two (22), NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) Division III, men’s, and women’s varsity sports, and six (6) chartered club teams. The CGAAC will exclusively support the Academy, the Athletic Director, and its Athletics program in the execution of its mission.
