Director of Athletics and Recreation

Trinity College, a preeminent liberal arts college in Hartford, Connecticut, invites inquiries, nominations, and applications for its director of athletics and recreation. This is an on-site leadership role.

 

Reporting to the vice president for student success and enrollment management, the next director of athletics and recreation will provide vision, leadership, and oversight for a comprehensive athletics and recreation program. The director will work collaboratively across the division of student success and enrollment management to develop a cohesive, integrated, and exceptional student experience from recruitment through graduation and beyond. The director will strategically partner with the advancement office to create and implement a fundraising plan for athletic giving for support, endowment, and capital projects. The director will represent Trinity within the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) leadership to ensure the mission and goals of the conference are attained, and they will be responsible for compliance with all policies, rules, and regulations of Trinity College, NESCAC, The College Squash Association (CSA), and NCAA. The director will oversee 73 full-time employees, including eight direct reports, who support 30 varsity sports, over 740 varsity student-athletes, dynamic recreational programs, club and intramural sports, fitness and well-being programs, and the Quest leadership program.

 

Qualifications

The successful candidate should have an advanced degree and significant, progressive professional experience leading a complex, dynamic, and diverse department. Experience within a highly selective liberal arts institution, collegiate-level coaching, and capital planning and fundraising experience are preferred.
