Thiel College seeks a relentlessly positive, high-character leader to serve as our Head Women’s Volleyball Coach, a role that blends strategic leadership with day-to-day mentorship of student-athletes. The Head Coach will oversee all aspects of the women's volleyball program, developing a competitive and values-based team that aligns with the mission of Thiel College. As a key leader within the Athletics Department, the coach will be an active campus presence, leading impactful practices, cultivating strong relationships, mentoring staff, and contributing to the student-athlete experience through leadership development, community engagement, and academic support. This is a transformational role for someone ready to build, recruit, and lead a program of distinction.
This position will have the opportunity to work with and develop a committed group of student-athletes promoting student success on the court, in the classroom, and in the community. Thiel’s Head Women’s Volleyball Coach will be charged with leading the efforts to build and strengthen a cohesive volleyball program while working with the Director of Athletics.
The candidate must have a solid commitment to academics and athletic success, demonstrating the ability to identify, recruit, and retain student-athletes as well as an understanding of the College’s mission. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Oversee the Women’s Volleyball program and supervise the day-to-day operations. Teach/instruct their student-athletes in their designated sport (primary duty of all coaches);
Monitor student-athletes’ academic performance and social behavior;
Recruit, retain, and graduate quality student-athletes for Thiel College and the athletic program.
Develop and implement a strategic recruiting plan - Consistently meet or exceed recruiting goals - Maintain target roster sizes;
Maintain allotted budget;
Coordinate with the Director of Athletics fundraising activities;
Develop a competitive competition schedule in conjunction with the Director of Athletics;
Coordinate and implement community service activities.
Mentor and develop assistant coaches;
Serve as a positive role model for players;
Serve on campus committees as needed;
Serve as Game Day Administrator for events as directed by the Director of Athletics;
Follow all rules and guidelines as the NCAA Division III, the Presidents Athletic Conference, and Thiel College set forth.
Carry out any other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Athletics;
Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred. 3-4 years of coaching experience at an NCAA program is desired. Competence in athletics management and leadership, an understanding of human development, and a deep commitment to the values the College promotes.
Candidates must be self-motivated; possess strong communication skills; have solid organizational, interpersonal, and leadership skills; The candidate must also strive for excellence and have pride in everything they do.
Successful candidates must adhere to all NCAA, conference, and institutional guidelines, policies, and rules. Demonstrate professional behavior while operating with integrity.
This position is 12 months full-time (reduced in June and July), includes health benefits and a cell stipend.
