Position Overview:
The Department of Athletics Operations seeks a Temporary Assistant Athletic Trainer 2026-27. This is a 12-month full time position that resides in the Athletic Department within the Division of Student Affairs. This position reports to the Executive Director of Athletics under the supervision of the Head Athletic Trainer. Responsibilities of the Assistant Athletic Trainer include assisting in providing athletic training services to varsity intercollegiate athletes. These responsibilities include the care, prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries, assisting with the day to day operations of the athletic training room, and managing the administrative duties of the athletic training room.
Responsibilities:
Assist the Head Athletic Trainer in the provision of athletic training services to varsity intercollegiate student-athletes; Assist in the care, prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries; Evaluate and manage injuries sustained by student-athletes including emergency care/first aid as necessary and make medical referrals.
Provide athletic training services to all varsity student athletes as assigned by sport, supporting over 550 student athletes over 20 sports.
Administer physical modalities, therapeutic, and/or rehabilitative exercise to student-athletes; Assist with the day-to-day operation of the athletic training room including coverage of practice and games, AED, and golf cart use.
Travel during post season/training trips as needed for all sports
Perform weight certifications for the wrestling team.
Responsible for inventory and updating Emergency Action plans. Assist in the administrative duties including the organization and maintenance of daily medical records, submitting insurance claims, and providing referrals for physician-based services. Assist with administrating summer physicals for student athletes.
Assist with the supervision of student workers, TCNJ interns and athletic training students from affiliated MSAT programs.

Qualifications:
Required:
Willingness to work nights, weekends, and over holidays when needed.
Travel Required.
NATABOC Certification.
NJ Athletic Training license through the NJ Board of Medical Examiners.
Current certification in CPR/AED under the guidelines of the NATABOC.
At least 2 years of athletic training experience beyond undergraduate level required; minimum of 2 years experience working at the collegiate level.
Bachelor's degree in Athletic training, Physical Education, Corporate Fitness, Sports Management or similar field preferably supplemented by Master's Degree in related field or equivalency as determined by the appointing authority.
