
The Assistant Soccer Coach supports the Head Coach in leading Tarleton State University’s NCAA Division I women’s soccer program. This requisition will be used to fill two (2) Assistant Soccer Coach positions. These roles play a key part in program development, athlete recruitment, and team performance, while ensuring compliance with NCAA, conference, and university regulations. The Assistant Coach provides leadership in training, mentoring student-athletes, and supervising student workers and graduate assistants to foster a culture of excellence, integrity, and respect.
Serves as a Campus Security Authority (CSA); Work hours: Mon-Fri; 8 AM-5 PM or as work requirements indicate
Duties and Responsibilities
Program Leadership & Strategy
Assist the Head Coach in developing and implementing strategic plans for the women’s soccer program.
Contribute to game planning, tactical analysis, and player development strategies.
Serve as acting head coach when designated.
Recruitment & Talent Development
Lead recruiting efforts for prospective student-athletes, including evaluation, campus visits, and compliance documentation.
Build relationships with high school and club coaches to identify talent pipelines.
Coaching & Training
Design and conduct practice sessions focused on technical, tactical, and physical development.
Provide individualized coaching and feedback to enhance player performance.
Supervision & Mentorship
Oversee assistant coaches, graduate assistants, and student workers.
Support academic success and personal development of student-athletes.
Compliance & Administration
Ensure adherence to NCAA, conference, and university policies.
Assist with budget management, equipment ordering, and travel logistics.
Community Engagement
Represent Tarleton State Athletics at university and community events.
Promote program visibility through outreach and media engagement.
Other Duties
Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Head Coach or Athletics administration
Minimum Requirements
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Two years of soccer coaching experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong leadership and organizational skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Knowledge of NCAA rules and compliance standards.
Ability to mentor and motivate student-athletes.
Proficiency in video analysis and performance technology.
Preferred
Preferred Education and Experience
Previous Division 1 soccer coaching experience.
Other requirements
Work is normally performed in a gymnasium or game field setting with extensive travel to/from away matches required, as well as extensive travel for recruiting.
