The Assistant Coach is expected to assist in all aspects of the operation of their respective intercollegiate sport program as assigned by the Head Coach, including: teaching and implementing skills and strategy, practice planning and execution, game preparation and execution, scouting, recruiting, student-athlete support issues, and other duties that may be assigned by the head coach.
This is a part-time position for which the schedule and stipend will be determined with the head coach. Additionally, there are potential opportunities for additional sources of income, including racquet stringing as well as teaching youth and adult tennis lessons/clinics throughout the year.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Planning team practices and individual training sessions
Recruiting potential student-athletes
Coaching dual matches and tournaments
Mentoring a diverse and vibrant roster of student-athletes
Creating social media content
Analyzing match and practice videos
Teaching athletic skills and team concepts as well as implementing skills and strategy in competitive situations.
Ensure that the policies, procedures and regulations of organizations to which the College belongs including the NCAA are adhered to.
All other duties as assigned and therefore deemed necessary and appropriate by the head coach and/or the Director of Athletics or his/her representative.
Bachelor’s Degree
The ideal candidate should have at least 2 years of coaching experience and a proven ability to teach players who compete at a high level. They should have a passion for the sport, the Division III philosophy, and player development. The candidate should be a positive, energetic, and trustworthy leader with strong organizational skills, excellent communication, and the ability to work a flexible schedule.
WORK CONDITIONS
Work hours that may be diverse and long, including evenings and weekends for instruction, team travel, recruiting and scouting. Time will be spent in various environments, including indoor and outdoor facilities.
