Open Positions (2): Director of Digital Strategies & Assistant Director of Communications and Digital Strategies
JOB TITLE: Director of Digital Strategies (Full-Time)
Summary:
This newly created 12-month, full-time position requires a creative individual that will report directly to the assistant commissioner of communications and digital strategies whose primary focus will be oversite of digital content creation and management of the Summit League's social media accounts, including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X, and YouTube. This is a leadership role responsible for overseeing the digital content strategy for each academic year.
Additional duties include assisting with day-to-day communications tasks with designated sport oversight, championship preparation, providing Summit League Network support and on-site support at various league events. Preferred applicants will have 3-5 years of post-graduate experience in a collegiate or professional sports setting working in these specific areas.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
- Developing and implementing an overarching digital content strategy designed to elevate the Summit League brand and member institutions.
- Produce consistent and engaging digital storytelling of the Summit League, its student-athletes, and regular season and championship events they compete in.
- Working closely with The Summit League's television partners to enhance the league's brand through innovative and complimentary content and highlight packages.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and trends to incorporate those into a broad-based digital content strategy.
- Capture appropriate social data/metrics, insight and best practices and catalog quarterly analytical documents on the league's video, social and web metrics in conjunction with communication staff.
- Assisting with special projects and campaigns focusing on educational topics such as diversity and inclusion, mental health, NIL and Title IX.
- Assisting with the coordination and overall content strategy for special events like the annual Summit League Basketball Media Day.
- Assisting the commissioner, and staff members with other conference-related duties as assigned
Required knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Highly skilled in digital content creation with an advanced understanding of social media and video trends and technologies
- Strong competency in video capture, editing, and package creation.
- Significant proficiency in using social media and video platforms including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and Snapchat.
- Significant proficiency in graphic design utilizing Adobe products including InDesign, Photoshop, Premier Pro and After Effects
- Familiarity with website management and working within a content management system
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills with the ability to thrive in a team environment and work efficiently with a variety of constituents, including conference staff, and administrators and staff at member institutions
Additional Info:
- Travel to assigned Summit League championship events will be required along with the ability to work long hours, including days, nights, and weekends.
- This is a 12-month, full-time position with an annual salary range based on previous work experience plus a benefits package that includes medical and dental plans along with a retirement plan through TIAA-CREF.
- A bachelor's degree in a related field (i.e., video production, communications, graphic design, marketing) is required and 2-4 years of experience working within a similar field in a collegiate or professional sports setting is preferred.
- Relocation to Sioux Falls is required if not already living in the area

This 12-month, full-time position requires a creative individual that will report directly to the assistant commissioner of communications and digital strategies whose primary focus will be on assisting with digital content creation to expand the league's brand, and providing regular-season and championship event coverage for the league's website and social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X, and YouTube.
Additional duties include assisting with day-to-day communications tasks, championship preparation, providing Summit League Network support and on-site support at various league events. Preferred applicants will have 1-3 years of post-graduate experience in a collegiate or professional sports setting with practical experience and demonstrated skills in these specific areas.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
- Serving as the primary conference communications contact for Volleyball and additional Olympic sports (3-5) assigned. Assist with men's and women's basketball communications.
- Creating, editing, publishing, and sharing daily content that brands The Summit League and builds worthwhile connections to fans
- Ensure consistent style, quality and format of web and social media content
- Assist in the execution of the league's digital content strategy
- Producing content based on sponsorship agreements and featured on social media platforms and website
- Assisting with special projects and campaigns focusing on educational topics such as diversity and inclusion, mental health, NIL and Title IX.
- Assisting with the coordination and overall execution of special events including the annual Summit League Basketball Media Day.
- Assisting the commissioner, and other staff members with other conference-related duties as assigned
