This is a managerial position responsible for providing leadership and oversight for intercollegiate athletics sales and marketing functions, operations, game day experiences, communications, and other external affairs. Responsible for oversight and coordination of fan experience, creative services, merchandising, licensing, and relationships with athletics multimedia rights, ticket sales, and apparel partners. Maximizes sales and revenue generation for ticket sales, marketing, merchandise, concessions and corporate sales, and other revenue streams. Works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for initiative and independent judgment. Reports to the Director of Athletics.
Essential Job Functions
- Develops and implements sales strategies to increase ticket sales, sponsorship, merchandise, and other revenue streams. Develops and coordinates sales selling cycle and methodology in coordination with multimedia rights partners.
- Directs and oversees athletics marketing function to increase marketplace awareness and credibility. Conducts market research and develops strategies and plans to identify and develop marketing opportunities, specifically through the subscription-based model of social media. Generates and develops new corporate partnership programs while fulfilling and servicing all existing corporate sponsorship accounts in coordination and partnership with multimedia rights partners. Supervises planning and development of athletics marketing and communications materials.
- Develops and manages sales and marketing budget and oversees development and management of external unit-related operating budgets. Analyzes and evaluates effectiveness of sales, methods, costs, and results. Participates in development of new business proposals.
- Establishes and implements short and long-range external unit goals and objectives. Recommends and administers policies and procedures to enhance operations.
- Develops and directs creative and innovative game day promotions and experiences to grow fan attendance, connect with the community, and create excitement at home athletic events. Supervises and executes in-game elements and in-game promotions.
- Coordinates stewardship efforts at various athletics special events including football and basketball pre-game hospitality and other game day-related activities. Assists with post-season events.
- Serves on departmental planning and policy-making committees.
- Engages in department’s educational plan on name, image and likeness (NIL) activities for student-athletes through content creation and digital media strategies for teams and student-athletes.
- Recruits, hires, develops, and evaluates assigned staff.
- Serves as primary and secondary sports administrator for designated sports programs as assigned by the director. Collaborates closely with coaches, student-athletes, and support staff to ensure smooth operations and optimal performance of the sport; monitors compliance with sport-specific rules, regulations, and safety protocols; supports the growth and development of the sport within the athletics department, and contributes to identifying areas for improvement and implementing necessary changes to enhance the sport’s success and growth.
- Adheres to all department and university policies and procedures, as well as the rules, regulations, bylaws and interpretations of the conference and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).
- Complies with all department and university continuing education initiatives and required certification and training.

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities
