Title: Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance and Budgeting
Reports to: Director of Athletics
The Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance and Budgeting will be a senior member of St. Olaf College Athletics' leadership team. This position oversees the Athletic Department’s operating budget and ensures compliance with institutional, NCAA, and MIAC rules and regulations.
Primary Responsibilities:
Manage the Athletics Department’s financial operations, including oversight of pro card usage, monthly budget reconciliation, and maintenance of the shared Excel budget tracking system.
Hold regular meetings with unit budget managers to strategize optimal resource use, identify challenges, and foster a culture of budget compliance.
Manage all financial reporting, including the annual completion of the EADA Report.
Coordinate a comprehensive rules compliance program.
Work with the Offices of Admission, Financial Aid, Registrar, and Housing.
Represent the institution at conferences and meetings of athletic governance associations.
Prepare NCAA and MIAC rules education materials for monthly coaching staff and compliance meetings, as well as individual and team meetings.
Investigate rule violations, interview the affected parties, and submit both a written and an oral report to the Director of Athletics.
Represent St. Olaf Athletics on internal institutional standing and ad hoc committees as requested.
Serve on head coaching search committees.
Serve as the sports supervisor for up to six sports, as the day-to-day contact for the head and assistant coaches.
Oversee Title IX and gender equity components of the Athletics Department, coordinate the necessary NCAA sexual violence training, conduct educational sessions on gender equity, and serve as a resource for student-athletes and staff.
Engage in community service and outreach activities.
Uphold the highest standards of professional conduct, adhering to institutional, NCAA, and MIAC policies and regulations.
Foster positive working relationships.
Supervise assigned staff.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
Education and Certification Requirements:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Athletics Administration/Sports Management or related field.
Preferred:
Master’s degree in Athletics Administration/Sports Management or a related field.
Experience and Competency Requirements:
Required:
Three years of successful experience as an athletics administrator in college sports or a related field. Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, MIAC and NCAA rules and regulations. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with strong organizational and interpersonal abilities.
Preferred:
Five years of experience as a successful athletics administrator in college athletics or a related field. Ability to make independent, informed, and decisive decisions. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong organizational and interpersonal abilities.
