Women's Soccer Graduate Assistant Coach

Southwestern College is currently seeking applicants for a Women’s Soccer Graduate Assistant Coach.  This position is on a 10-month contract that runs Aug 1st – May 31st.  Southwestern College, an NAIA institution and member of the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC), is a private comprehensive college with an enrollment of about 1,700 students.  With a main campus in Winfield, Kansas, it also offers degree completion programs online.  It is affiliated with the United Methodist Church and for more information about the college, please visit www.sckans.edu.

Duties and Responsibilities
The duties for this position include assisting the head coach in the following aspects of the Women’s soccer program. (Designing and delivering drills and sessions for practices, helping with prep and decisions for each match we play, recruiting both virtually and in person through travel, overseeing grades and study hall to help students perform better in their academics.) The graduate assistant coach will be the first point of contact for the head women’s soccer coach. This provides a great opportunity for graduate assistants to gain real hands-on experience and play a big part in helping our athletes grow. The graduate assistant will need to have flexible working hours and be at all practice sessions, weight sessions, and games. (untraditional working hours, both evening and nights at times). The graduate assistant will also need to be able to lift and move athletic equipment to prepare for those practice and weight sessions.

Skills and Experience

• Collegiate playing and/or coaching experience is preferred.

• Recruiting experience preferred but not required

• Self-motivation and leadership skills are essential

• Good character & communication skills

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree is required

• Applicant must obtain acceptance in Southwestern College’s graduate program

• A valid driver’s license is required and must pass a Motor Vehicle Report

• Passing a background check

Position includes

• Meal stipend ($500 per semester)

• $5,000 stipend
