Coordinator of Academics and Student-Athlete Development
Department of Intercollegiate Athletics
Full Time
Primary Responsibilities
- Advise and monitor the academic progress of all student-athletes in accordance with NCAA, Ohio Valley Conference and University policies
- Provide learning strategies for at-risk student-athletes by offering proactive, early, sustained and individualized support to enhance academic success and develop independent learners
- Coordinate and implement student-athlete leadership and life skills programming for all student-athletes
- Serve as a liaison with faculty by maintaining contact with coaches and administrative staff
- Participate in freshman and transfer orientation programs, as needed
- Develop and implement appropriate systems to track academic progress for student-athletes to ensure timely degree completion
- Generate appropriate academic reports and summaries
- Assist with the evaluation and certification of student athletes' continuing eligibility and transfer eligibility
- Communicate regularly with colleagues to ensure compliance with eligibility requirements
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Knowledge of Division I NCAA Eligibility regulations
- Demonstrated knowledge of computer database management
- Demonstrated commitment to NCAA rules and regulations
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Demonstrated ability to collect and analyze data
- Ability to communicate effectively with coaches, faculty, staff and student-athletes from diverse backgrounds
- Ability to work evenings and weekends
- Demonstrated experience and understanding of customer service
